  • Patent number: 7530516
Abstract: A structure to be grasped in which a member can be grasped by a pair of grasping portions having respective grasping recesses of the same shape. A clutch member has rotation-limiting ribs and seating ribs formed on and projecting from a clutch body, and each set of a rotation-limiting rib and a seating rib are arranged on an imaginary straight line L1. When a pair of chuck members of a grasping device are moved away from each other along an imaginary straight line L2 coinciding with the imaginary straight line L1, the clutch member is grasped by the pair of chuck members. Although the rotation-limiting ribs and the seating ribs are different in shape from each other in order to meet their respective functional requirements, chucked portions of the rotation-limiting rib and seating rib, for fitting into the respective grasping recesses of the chuck members, have substantially the same shape.

  • Publication number: 20090078809
Abstract: Disclosed are a reel structured such that a recording tape can be wound on a hub without interference with a pair of flanges provided in opposing relationship to each other, and a method of designing such a reel. The hub is formed in a tapered shape, and a taper angle of the hub is determined from an expression ?<sin?1(G/L), where G is a spacing along an axial direction of the hub between the edge of the recording tape on the larger-diameter end portion of the hub at a winding start end of the recording tape and the flange on the larger-diameter side, and L is a winding length of the recording tape which is required to establish a state in which the recording tape can withstand a given tension when wound onto the hub.

  • Patent number: 7360982
Abstract: Various types of recording cartridges, each of which has a case which rotatably accommodates a reel on which a recording tape is wound, are provided with grasped portions with concave portions at side walls of the case and which a grasping device of a same, external library with accommodating chambers can grasp from both sides. A height from a floor surface of the accommodating chamber to the grasped portions when the cartridge is accommodated in the accommodating chamber of the library is made to be the same regardless of a type of the recording tape cartridge, and an interval between a pair of corner portions of the grasped portions, which corner portions are near a removal opening of the library, are made to be the same regardless of the cartridge type. A pair of corner portions of the grasped portions, which corner portions are deeper in the library, are chamfered.

  • Patent number: 7306180
Abstract: A tape cartridge includes a case, which is made of a lower case and an upper case, for accommodating a reel wound with a magnetic tape. The lower case includes a bottom surface disposed with two positioning holes formed separately from each other on a straight line orthogonal to a direction in which the tape cartridge is loaded into a drive device. The lower case also includes a front wall disposed with two surfaces for regulating a depth to which the case is loaded in the drive device. The two surfaces are positioned on straight lines that pass along the loading direction through the center of the positioning holes when seen from below. Positioning pins of the drive device are inserted into the positioning holes when regulating protrusions of the drive device abut against the two surfaces to regulate the depth to which the case is loaded.

  • Patent number: 7284723
Abstract: In a recording tape cartridge, a reel has a reel hub around which a magnetic tape is wound. An annular reel gear is formed at an outer surface of a bottom portion of the reel hub. Rotation of the reel is impeded by a braking member engaging with an engaging gear formed at an inner surface of the bottom portion. When a clutch member is pressed by a rotating shaft of a drive device, the clutch member is guided by rotation restricting ribs which are engaged with rotation restricting grooves such that relative rotation is impossible, and the clutch member moves in an axial direction of the reel and cancels engagement of the braking member with the engaging gear. A press operation surface and the rotation restricting grooves are positioned further toward a radial direction inner side than the reel gear.

  • Patent number: 7165738
Abstract: In this recording media cartridge, a reel around which a recording medium is wound is rotatably received within a case body constituted by coupling upper and lower halves in a face-to-face relationship, the reel is urged toward the lower half by a planar reel presser spring supported on an inner surface of the upper half as in a cantilever, and the reel presser spring is detachably mounted on the inner surface of the upper half, so that the reel presser spring can be collected without damaging components of the cartridge such as the case body, the reel presser spring and a reel lock member. As a result, in this cartridge, the waste materials can be reduced and the impact on the environment can be reduced. The cartridge is effective when different materials are sorted, and the disassembling work can be simplified.

  • Patent number: 7059554
Abstract: A recording tape cartridge in which a reel includes a reel gear and an engaging gear. The reel gear is formed in an annular shape at an outer face of a base portion of a reel hub. The engaging gear is formed in an annular shape at an inner face of the base portion. Magnetic tape is wound onto an outer periphery of the reel hub. A braking member is engaged with the engaging gear by an urging force and prevents the reel from rotating. A clutch member opposes a gear aperture at a radial direction inner side relative to the reel gear. An operationally pushed surface of the clutch member is pushed by a releasing surface of a drive device and the brake member is lifted, whereby rotation of the reel is enabled.

  • Patent number: 7055772
Abstract: A recording tape cartridge comprises: a case which is substantially rectangular, and at which an upper case and a lower case are joined together with peripheral walls thereof abutting one another, and which rotatably accommodates a single reel on which a recording tape is wound; and an opening formed at a corner portion of the case at a side of loading the case into a drive device, the opening being for pulling out of a leader member attached to an end portion of the recording tape. Concave portions, which extend over the upper case and the lower case and which are isosceles trapezoidal in plan view, are formed at a peripheral wall of the case at the side of loading the case into the drive device. In accordance with this structure, a peripheral wall, whose end portion is a free end due to an opening being formed, can be reinforced, and thereby a deterioration in strength of the peripheral wall can be prevented.
