  • Publication number: 20160017563
Abstract: A method and apparatus for locating a barrier panel within a soil formation. The apparatus comprises a mandrel plate at least one leading blade located proximate to the bottom end of the mandrel plate. The apparatus further comprises at least one retainer plate pivotally supported from the mandrel plate between the bottom end of the mandrel plate and the leading blade. The retainer plate is rotatable between an engaged position to retain a barrier panel proximate to the front surface of the mandrel plate and a disengaged position. The method comprises locating a barrier panel against the mandrel plate, displacing the leading blade from a position distal to the mandrel to a position adjacent to the mandrel so as rotate the retainer plate from a disengaged to an engaged position capturing a bottom edge of the barrier panel and pressing the mandrel plate and barrier panel into the soil formation.

  • Patent number: 8894072
Abstract: A seal, system and method for sealing a connection between adjacent barrier members each having a channel along one edge and flange along an opposed edge sized to be received within a corresponding channel of an adjacent barrier member. The seal comprises an elongate core having an opening extending longitudinally therealong and a plurality of fins extending therefrom. The system includes the seal and a wiper sized to surround the flange. The method comprises locating the wiper about the flange and the seal within the channel, engaging the flange within the channel and moving the second barrier member in a downward direction with the wiper below the channel of the second barrier member so as to remove and prevent debris from entering the connection between the channel and the flange.

  • Patent number: 7999691
Abstract: Revealed herein is a system and method for monitoring continuity between adjacent barrier members. Each barrier member has a first edge defining a first connector and an opposed second edge defining a second connector. The second connector is adapted to cooperatingly engage a corresponding first connector of an adjacent barrier member. The system comprises detectable bodies along the first connector of the barrier member and a detector locatable along the second connector of the adjacent barrier member. The detector detects the proximity of the detectable bodies. The method comprises inserting a first barrier member into a soil formation, engaging the second connector of a second barrier member with the first connector and inserting the second barrier member into the soil formation adjacent to the first barrier member while utilizing the detector to verify engagement of the first and second connectors.
