    Abstract: A display system includes a tray portion configured to hold and display product and a display header which is movably coupled to the tray portion. The display header includes a header board connected to a header mount via a rigid stem. The display header is movable from a retracted shipping position to an extended display position. An actuator movably couples the header mount and the stem to a wall of the tray portion by applying a biasing force which automatically pivots the header mount and stem to an upright position thereby placing the display header into the extended display position.

    Abstract: A shipping and display container convertible into a display configuration comprises a plurality of primary packages contained therein. The container comprises a bottom wall having one score line formed therein. Two side walls wherein each of which is foldably joined from the bottom wall. One of the side walls includes a pair of diagonal corner walls each of which foldably extend from lateral edge thereof The diagonal corner walls are configured to prevent the plurality of primary packages from tipping forward when the container is in the display position. A top wall is foldably joined from one of the side wall. Two opposed end walls each of which is formed from a plurality of flaps foldably extend from the bottom, side, and top walls in an overlapped relationship with one another. A perforated section is defined by two perforated lines of weakness wherein upon removal of the perforated section and folding container along the score line, the shipping and display container is converted into two display trays.

A protective sleeve is configured to detachably attach to the container. The protective sleeve includes two side walls, two end walls and opposed pairs of diagonal corner walls interposed between adjacent side and end walls. The side walls, the end walls and the diagonal corner walls are joined to one another along four vertical hinges to whereby protect the container against tremendous forces and inertia caused by mixing or shaking machinery.

    Abstract: Apparatus for facilitating the manual erection and loading of a partially assembled paperboard carton blank. The machine includes a work table on which the carton blank is manipulated selectively to open the blank and close the bottom thereof by utilizing a vacuum system for selectively restraining major flaps forming the bottom wall of the carton. The opened carton blank remains immobilized on the work table for loading through the open upper end thereof. The major and minor flaps at said upper end then can be folded manually to close the loaded carton, after which the vacuum system can be deactivated to permit sliding of the loaded carton into a takeaway apparatus which can be a taping or sealing device or a conveyor for transporting the loaded carton to a remote work station, such as, for sealing. The table top may be pivotal.

    Abstract: A packaging machine of the type for receiving a one-piece corrugated board blank having a product or lading positioned thereon to be drawn into the machine and folded around the lading to form a completed carton which is discharged into a compression section of the machine. A plurality of vertically arranged rollers are disposed on opposite sides of the compression section to engage the side walls of the cartons while they are present in and move through the compression section. Each roller is provided with a cylindrical body over which is fitted a soft, compressible elastic sleeve of yieldable material preferably formed of foam rubber or synthetic plastic. The yieldable sleeve enables deformation thereof as a carton is pressed against each roller in the compression section to achieve a planar surface-to-surface interface or contact between each roller and the respective carton side walls as distinguished from a line-to-line surface interface where a roller is not formed of a yieldable material.
