  • Patent number: 4476659
Abstract: The present invention establishes an insulation cavity by connecting rail tracks to the roofing panels, slidably engaging adjustable suspension clips within said tracks, and connecting ceiling panels to the depending end of the suspension clips. The suspension clips are slidable within these track connections to allow the relative displacement between the roof and the depending ceiling. This freedom allows flexability in the alignment of the ceiling panels in relation to the roofing panels and thereby simplifies installation procedures. Further, the deliberate thermal isolation of the connected roof and ceiling panels promotes the relative displacement therebetween due to thermal expansion and this displacement translates to potentially damaging strain within the roofing system in the absence of the freedom provided by the clip to track engagement.

  • Patent number: 4425747
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for insulating a covered patio by supporting insulation upon ceiling panels depending from clamps engaged in the apices of a twin-vee roof. The roof engaging elements of the clamp include a diagonal face plate with a gripping extended edge and a set screw threadedly engaged through said diagonal face plate. These elements are disposed so that the gripping edge of the diagonal plate and the leading edge of the set screw engage opposite vertical faces of the receiving slot at an apex of a roofing panel. The head of the set screw is accessible when the clamp is in place and tightening the set screw secures the clamp to the roofing panels and lodges the clamp in place by establishing sufficient force to the opposing walls adjacent the closed top of the slot. The depending end of the clamp carries mean of connection with the ceiling panels and this connection establishes the cavity into which the insulation is placed.

  • Patent number: 4389823
Abstract: Disclosed is a modular roof skylight system which includes channel shaped roof and ceiling panel assemblies locked together with a skylight panel assembly therebetween. The skylight panel assembly includes roof and ceiling light transmitting sections which may be installed in place of and between modular roof panels. The inner ceiling skylight panel is securely mounted to the adjacent ceiling panels by a pair of flexible mounting clips complementally formed relative to elongated ceiling support strips secured to the adjacent ceiling panels. The support strips are formed with a plurality of serrations along one inner face. Each mounting clip is likewise formed with a plurality of mating ridges. A first of the mounting strips is secured on one side of the skylight panel opening with the serrations exposed for mating with a mounting clip. A second of the mounting strips is secured on an opposite side of the skylight opening with the serrations secured against the adjacent ceiling panel.

  • Patent number: 4155206
Abstract: Disclosed is an insulated metal roofing system which includes channel shaped roofing panels locked together in side-by-side relationship at the upwardly projecting edges of the channel legs by means of interlocking flanges, with legs of adjacent panels in abutting relationship. In some embodiments specially configured clip members engage the roofing panels in their regions of abutment and project downwardly therefrom. Channel shaped ceiling panels are hung in side-by-side relationship on the clip members, and part or all of the space between the roofing panels and the ceiling panels is filled with insulation. The clip members are preferably constructed to provide a selection of points of connection between them and the ceiling panels to thereby provide a selection of spacings between the roofing panels and the ceiling panels. In another embodiment, the ceiling panels are connected directly to the roofing panels.

  • Patent number: 4109437
Abstract: Disclosed is a channel shaped building panel especially adapted for installation on the underside of a roofing framework. The panel has opposed upstanding webs, one of which is provided with outwardly oriented generally L-shaped female locking and mounting means, and the other of which is provided with an inwardly oriented male locking means, both locking means terminating in detent ribs. At the juncture of the female locking means with its web, an integral inwardly oriented scabbard is formed, and a complementary outwardly oriented integral blade is formed at the juncture of the male locking member with its web. Upon upward insertion of the male locking member into the female locking member, the detent ribs interact in snap fashion, and the blade seats in the scabbard. The female locking and mounting member provides a surface for attachment of a fastener to the roofing framework.
