  • Patent number: 5318424
Abstract: The wraps of a scroll device are nonsymmetrical. Additionally, each wrap has a circular outer portion, an involute inner portion with a high order curve therebetween. To equalize displacement, the starting angles of the pockets can be adjusted.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 7, 1992
Date of Patent: June 7, 1994
    Assignee: Carrier Corporation
Inventors: James W. Bush, Wayne P. Beagle
  • Patent number: 5141421
Abstract: Co-orbiting scroll members are maintained in a fixed angular relationship. Each of the scroll members coacts with a common anti-rotation structure which controls orbiting motion between the scroll member. A second anti-rotation structure limits one of the scroll members to orbiting motion with respect to the crankcase. The scroll members preferably orbit in orbits of different radii.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 17, 1991
Date of Patent: August 25, 1992
    Assignee: Carrier Corporation
Inventors: James W. Bush, Wayne P. Beagle
  • Patent number: 5088905
Abstract: A low side scroll compressor is provided with a pivoted bistable check valve. In the open position the valve is out of the direct discharge from the scrolls but in close proximity to the discharge tube such that upon stopping the compressor the reverse flow from the system impinges upon the valve member causing it to close.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 27, 1990
Date of Patent: February 18, 1992
    Assignee: Carrier Corporation
