  • Publication number: 20090038607
Abstract: A mount and tracking mechanism for solar panels and antennae. The tracking mechanism comprises electric motor actuators which operate a small gear reducer drive. The output of the small reducer drive is connected to the input of a large gear reducer drive. The output of the large gear reducer drive moves the solar panels or antennae. This arrangement results in a substantial increase in the torque of the output shaft of the large gear reducer drive.

  • Patent number: 7374137
Abstract: A directional support structure for use with solar panels, flat satellite antennas, and the like items that are directed toward a point in space. The support structure includes a mounting plate with an extension tube extending outwardly therefrom, pivotally secured to a mounting bracket permitting rotational azimuth alignment of the mounting plate. At least one locking turnbuckle is attached between the extension tube and the mounting bracket to provide locking and vertical adjustable alignment of the mounting plate. The base member includes an attached first flange positioned along an upper end of the base member, an attached flaring positioned on the lower end of the mounting bracket, and an unattached second flange positioned over the flaring, securable to the first flange with fasteners.

Abstract: A directional support structure for use with solar panels, flat satellite antennas, and the like items that are directed toward a point in space. The support structure has a mounting plate with an extension tube extending outwardly therefrom and is pivotally secured to a mounting bracket permitting latitude alignment of the mounting plate. At least one adjustable turnbuckle is attached to the extension tube and the mounting bracket to provide adjustable alignment of the mounting plate, the turnbuckle can then be locked into position. The mounting bracket is further secured to a base member permitting rotational or azimuth positioning of the mounting plate. The base member includes an attached first flange positioned along an upper end of the base member, an attached flaring positioned to the lower end of the mounting bracket, and an unattached second flange positioned over the flaring and securable to the first flange with fasteners.

  • Patent number: 6526667
Abstract: A device for determining the suitability of a communications satellite antenna reception device site has a bubble level and inclinometer for orienting the device vertically and horizontally. The device also carries a magnetic compass and an azimuth dial for establishing orientation relative to magnetic North and True North. The device also carries a declination slider and an inclinometer for establishing celestial declination of a satellite spacecraft. A viewing lens is used to observe obstructions, or the lack thereof, along the line of site between the antenna reception device and the satellite spacecraft.
