  • Publication number: 20120032772
Abstract: An assembly includes an electrically conductive mounting bracket, a current limiting device electrically connected to the mounting bracket, and a fuse assembly that includes a body and a fuse. The electrically conductive mounting bracket is configured to mount about the body of the fuse assembly, and, when the electrically conductive mounting bracket is mounted about the body of the fuse assembly, the mounting bracket forms a path for electrical current between the current limiting device and the fuse.

  • Patent number: 5393240
Abstract: A load separable connection is provided, including a loadbreak elbow having a contact probe, and a bushing into which the contact probe is received in a tulip contact therein. An ablative insert, including a projecting lip extending over the outer circumference of the tulip contact at the end thereof, is provided within bushing. The insert helps extinguish arcs created during live connection of the elbow over the bushing, and also helps physically block the access of the arc to the bushing components surrounding the tulip contact.

  • Patent number: 4656452
Abstract: A core shunt packet for reducing the telephone influence factor in a transformer of the type having a core formed from strips of magnetic material arranged in end-to-end relation forming a series of staggered gaps at one end of the core, the core shunt packets including one or more steel laminations mounted in an envelope, the envelope being mounted on the side of the core in a position to bridge the gap area on the core with a sheet of insulation located between the envelope and the side of the core.

  • Patent number: 4628291
Abstract: An oil expulsion fuse having a pair of contacts solidly secured to the ends of a high strength outer insulating tube. A resilient non-conducting inner sleeve is mounted within the bore of the insulating tube and contact assembly, the sleeve and tube being closely fit to each other. A fusible link is assembled in the bore of the resilient sleeve secured to the contact ends by fuse clamps. The fusible link includes a support tube also composed of a resilient non-conductive material which together with the inner sleeve absorb and trap high energy fuse link particles during a fusing operation.

  • Patent number: 4321576
Abstract: A drywell fuse holder and a loadbreak fuse assembly, the holder including an arc-extinguishing sleeve located adjacent to the inner contact sleeve, the loadbreak fuse assembly including a non-expulsion fuse having electrical interface assemblies at each end spaced apart a distance less than the distance the inlet to the contact sleeves in the fuse holder, the interface assemblies including a spacer ring to center the fuse assembly in the holder and protect the garter spring contact and an arcing washer to transfer the arc from the garter spring; and an arc-extinguishing follower on the fuse assembly which is pulled through the arc-extinguishing sleeve to extinguish the arc.

  • Patent number: 4320375
Abstract: A high current under oil expulsion fuse having a pair of contacts mounted on a dielectric sleeve, a nontracking, nonconducting pressure tube within the sleeve which extends beyond the dielectric housing into a portion of each of the contacts, a fuse link in the pressure tube, a clamp having a metering orifice mounted on one of the contacts to secure the link in the contact and a gas retention chamber mounted on the other contact to secure the link to the other contact, the gas retention chamber being operative to blow high pressure gas through the bore of the pressure tube to assist in clearing arc products and ionized gases from the fuse.
