  • Publication number: 20140314484
Abstract: A transportable wave suppressor and sediment collection (WSSC) system positionable in deep water along a coastline of a body of water, having a plurality of sections, each section further including a base portion having an upper floor portion, a forward wall, rear wall and two sidewalls and an open bottom end portion for being positioned on a floor of the body of water; at least a pair of raised elongated members positioned on the upper surface of the upper floor of the base; an upper portion to be secured to the base portion, the upper section having a angulated front wall to receive the flow of water through a plurality of flow pipes as the water engages each section; at least a pair of elongated openings in the upper portion for receiving the raised elongated members positioned on the upper surface of the upper wall of the base to define a means for securing the base to the upper portion.

  • Publication number: 20130022399
Abstract: A system and method to provide water and sediment flow through a rock jetty, which includes a plurality of collection components mounted along a forward face of the rock jetty, each collection component having a plurality of flow pipes to receive water carrying sediment; a principal flow pipe to receive flow from the plurality of flow pipes and to carry water and sediment a predetermined distance to deposit at the rear of the jetty; a continuous trough mounted on the jetty forward face to efficiently capture water and sediment at entrances of the plurality of flow pipes; and a filter screen covering the entrance of the trough to allow water and sediment to flow into the trough and to prevent large rocks and other debris from entering. Sections of principal flow pipe may be removed when sufficient quantity of sediment has been deposited, so that additional sediment can be deposited.

  • Patent number: 8226325
Abstract: A transportable wave suppressor and sediment collection (WSSC) system, including a method of installing same, the system installed to suppress wave action and provide land restoration along the shore of a body of water, such as a coastline, which includes a plurality of interconnected sections of the system, each section including a base, a forward wall, and a rear wall, having a plurality of fluid flow pipes extending from the forward wall to the rear wall, for allowing water including sediment to flow into the pipes at the forward wall and exit the pipes at the rear wall. There is further provided a one-way valve member at the rear wall exit of each pipe, so that water carrying sediment cannot return through the pipe as the wave action recedes from the coastline. There is provided a flow opening including a weir between multiple sections so that water can flow therethrough.

  • Patent number: 5329831
Abstract: A new, novel device for holding a container while applying torque specifically to the closure in the direction of opening. This device is readily adaptable for use with an electric motor or ratchet to provide hands free operation. The device may be made small enough to serve as a counter-top appliance for home use. In addition, the device is self sizing to serve a wide array of container closures.

  • Patent number: 5083617
Abstract: A multi-layered fire extinguishing blanket including a fire-proof blanket of fire-resistant, fabric layer having a peripherally attached, non-porous, laminated almuinum layer on one side, creating insulating air pockets between the two, and two handles on the fabric backside of the blanket for manually grasping the blanket prior to placing it over a fire aluminum side down. The handles are mounted at positions spaced substantially below the top edge of the blanket, so that a portion of the blanket between the handles and the top edges, which is of a material having little if any rigidity, is allowed to drape back over, covering and protecting the hands, the handles also providing greater control of the blanket for more effective operation.

  • Patent number: 4650002
Abstract: A fire resistant blanket which is tossed or placed over a fire in order to smother the flames comprising a square shaped blanket made of a permanently fire proof material, on the backside of which are attached two handles made of the same clothlike material. At strategic points about the perimeter magnets are positioned and secured in pockets of the blanket. The blanket's primary function is to be used to extinguish small household fires such as may arise in the kitchen while cooking. The blanket is designed to allow storage directly on the side of a refrigerator or other metallic surface or on the kitchen wall by draping over a dowel where it will be readily accessible in the event of a kitchen fire. The handles on the back are designed to allow the operator to approach the fire while protecting himself and his hands. The spaced magnets weight the blanket optimally for tossing the blanket onto a fire.
