    Abstract: Provided herein is an image-sensing device and a method for auto white balance. An image signal processor is used to perform the method. In the method, an RGBIr photo sensor receives an image with data over red, green and blue channels. The image data over the red, green and blue channel is firstly restored. A series of weights are calculated according to the image data over an infrared channel. The weights are allocated to the image data so as to adjust the infrared ratios over the red, green and blue channels for reducing infrared effect on auto white balance. After that, an infrared weighting calculation is performed for adjusting the infrared values over the red, green and blue channels of the image. A set of white balance gains are obtained. An auto white balance is performed for obtaining a new image with infrared crosstalk compensation.

    Abstract: A method for processing image noise in a compression process and a circuit system thereof are provided. The circuit system receives an image that is compressed in a specific compression format, and obtains pixel values after the image is decompressed. Differences of pixel values between pixels adjacent to each other can be calculated. A specific area of the image can be divided into multiple sections. A maximum pixel value and a minimum pixel value for each area are used to obtain a regional maximum difference. The regional maximum difference is used to determine whether or not to perform an image-denoising process on the areas such as a flat area or a high-frequency area. Differences among the adjacent pixels can be adjusted according to a weighted average brightness of the adjacent pixels. The image-denoising process is performed on the areas, and an image with reduced noise is finally outputted.

    Abstract: A method and a system for compensating an image having fixed pattern noise are provided. The method is adapted to a 4-cell sensor and can automatically calculate appropriate compensation parameters for fixed pattern noise according to non-uniformity of the sensor and lens. Since the defects in the sensor or the lens may cause non-uniform fixed pattern noise, an image is firstly divided into multiple grids and a pixel average of every channel in the grids is calculated. Afterwards, a fixed pattern noise compensation coefficient of every pixel can be calculated according to characteristics of the image formed by the 4-cell sensor. In one aspect, the compensation coefficient of the current pixel can be calculated by extrapolation or interpolation. The fixed pattern noise in the image can be corrected.

    Abstract: A method for determining and suppressing Moiré pattern, and a circuit system thereof are provided. In the method, a brightness value of pixels of an image can be obtained. For each of the pixels of the image, a detection window is provided for calculating a Moiré pattern response value of a plurality of critical pixels and corresponding adjacent pixels. The critical pixels within the detection window are selected for determining a type of Moiré pattern. After, it is to compare the brightness values of the critical pixels and the corresponding adjacent pixels within the detection window. The comparison results can be used to determine the brightness characteristics of the pixels through a statistical method. Moiré pattern response value and the statistics are used to determine type and position of the Moiré pattern. A color noise suppression process is performed on the pixels to be determined as Moiré pattern.
