Abstract: This invention relates to a method for web tear monitoring on a machine used for the production and/or treatment of a fiber material web, in particular a paper web or paperboard web, said machine being in particular a paper machine or coating machine on which the fiber material web is conveyed at a defined speed in its longitudinal direction along a defined path, wherein a web tear is detected by way of a light-emitting component and a light-receiving sensor in that light is emitted from the light-emitting component in the direction of the fiber material web to a defined target point and, given the presence of the fiber material web, is reflected and/or let through and/or directed in the target point to the light-receiving sensor.

Abstract: A machine for the production and/or converting of a material web, especially a paper or carton web, such as a coating machine for single sided or two-sided application of liquid or viscid coating medium onto a moving web by way of at least one application device. At least one carrier surface, or partial surface, and/or at least one area or partial area, of the machine that is exposed, or could be exposed, during the operation and/or during start-up of the machine and/or during slow-down of the machine and/or during at least an exceptional operational condition of the machine to the medium is a focus of the present invention. Application medium, that is used in the production or converting process, and/or is subjected to another contamination hazard, is formed by or furnished with a permanent or temporary, protective layer, also referred to as barrier layer, that is applied to the carrier surface.

Abstract: The invention relates to dryer assembly including a taper cutter device, which is disposed adjacent to and after a top felt dryer group of a paper making machine. The taper cutter may be arranged between a last dryer cylinder of the top felt dryer group and a subsequent web guide roll. Further, the taper cutter may be positioned to contact the material web after a transport belt has separated from the material web and before the material web is lifted off a last dryer cylinder surface. At least the final dryer cylinder and the subsequent web guide roll can be driven.
