  • Patent number: 5895546
Abstract: Veneer panels which are to be joined in a plurality of layers one above the other and one behind the other are assembled and glued to form an endless strand of veneer laminates. In the process, the veneer panels are first fed in through a glue-application machine which applies a layer of glue on a top side of the veneer panels onto a buffer belt. The veneer panels are then transferred from the buffer belt to a horizontally reversing feed belt which forms on a roller table a first veneer assembly comprising a plurality of veneer panels. The first veneer assembly is raised about its front end by an angle .alpha. into an oblique position so that veneer panels of a subsequent veneer assembly can be threaded into the first veneer assembly using the horizontally reversing feed belt. The first and subsequent veneer assemblies are thereby combined into a veneer-panel strand, and transferred to a continuously operating prepress and press.

  • Patent number: 5118214
Abstract: The invention relates to a connecting assembly for use in the propeller shaft in the driveline of a motor vehicle between the end of a tubular shaft, especially made of a composite material, and a connecting piece positioned coaxially relative to the shaft end. The shaft and connecting piece have connecting structures which inter-fit in the circumferential direction. The tubular shaft is designed to sustain without damage greater impacting force in the longitudinal axial direction than is required to displace the connecting piece relative to the shaft in this direction.

  • Patent number: 4713040
Abstract: A power transmitting shaft for a torque transmission assembly is formed with a tubular cross section having bores arranged radially in the tube wall at at least one tube end and with bushes inserted into the bores. The bushes are provided with recesses for receiving joint journals or the like whose longitudinal axis is arranged radially in the tube for the purpose of introducing a torque, with tangential and radial forces occurring at the transmitting face of the tube wall. The bushes are designed as a truncated cone which is tapered towards the tube interior and with a cone angle .alpha. selected to be such that the radial component of the forces to be transmitted at the transmitting face is minimized or eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4393245
Abstract: New 1-acyl- and 1-hydroxymethyl-cyclododecanes and -cyclododecenes. The new 1-acyl-cyclododecenes and -cyclododecanes are obtained by a Rupe or Meyer-Schuster rearrangement, with or without subsequent hydrogenation in the presence of Ni, Pd and Pt catalysts. The 1-acyl-cyclododecenes and -cyclododecanes are valuable scents of the basic type of the sought-after macrocyclic musk scents. Furthermore, they are used for the manufacture of numerous other new 1-substituted or 1-and 2-substituted cyclododecenes and cyclododecanes having good scent characteristics.

Abstract: 2,6,10-Trimethyl-dodecan-1-al and its 4,8-diene and processes for their manufacture. The new compounds are manufactured by vinylation or ethynylation and subsequent partial hydrogenation of 2-methyl-butan-1-al, reaction of the resulting 4-methyl-hex-1-en-3-ol with a propenyl ether in the presence of an acid catalyst at elevated temperatures, or reaction of the resulting 4-methyl-hex-1-en-3-ol with an .alpha.-formyl-propionic acid ester at elevated temperatures, subsequent vinylation of ethynylation and partial hydrogenation of the resulting 2,6-dimethyl-oct-4-en-1-al, renewed reaction with a propenyl ether or an .alpha.-formyl-propionic acid ester and -- if desired -- catalytic hydrogenation of the resulting 2,6,10-trimethyl-dodeca-4,8-dien-1-al. The organoleptic properties of the new compounds greatly resemble those of the natural scents and aromas of oranges, namely .alpha.- and .beta.-sinensal.
