Aqueous coating systems containing such polyethers exhibit increased wetting property and are resistant to alkaline and acidic hydrolysis.

    Abstract: Methylpolysiloxanes are disclosed which have quaternary ammonium groups linked to silicon atoms via carbon atoms, wherein the ratio of the number of dimethylsiloxy groups to the number of quaternary ammonium groups has a value of 0.5 to 1.5. The methylpolysiloxanes are useful as corrosion inhibitors for preparations consisting predominantly of water, especially coolants, such as cooling lubricants mixed with water, in an amount of 0.01 to 0.1% by weight, based on the total preparation in the form suitable for use.
