  • Patent number: 6758117
Abstract: The present invention provides a lathe, comprising a machine frame, a first working spindle with a first workpiece receiving means, at least one first tool slide with a tool carrier, a second working spindle with a second workpiece receiving means which faces the first workpiece receiving means, and at least one second tool slide with a tool carrier, The machine frame has an elongated machine base member, having a first support section and a second support section arranged to follow the first support section. Each support section has a base side, a spindle support side located opposite this and two slide support sides located opposite one another and between the base side and the spindle support side. The first working spindle is arranged on the spindle support side of the first support section and the second working spindle is arranged on the spindle support side of the second support section.

  • Patent number: 6513410
Abstract: The invention provides a tool support for machine tools comprising a base unit, a holding member arranged on the base unit and two supporting surfaces extending at an acute angle to one another arranged on the holding member for supporting a tool holder in first and second supporting areas. A clamping device acts on a clamping member of the tool holder such that the tool holder acts upon the supporting surfaces with the two supporting areas. The clamping element may be mounted in the holding member for rotation about an axis and bear a wedge surface movable around the axis for acting on the clamping member. The wedge surface of the clamping element may engage over the clamping member proceeding from an insert position during the rotation of the clamping element in a first direction of rotation and displace the clamping member increasingly in the clamping direction.

Abstract: In order to improve a lathe, comprising a machine frame, a first working spindle with a first workpiece receiving means, at least one first tool slide with a tool carrier, a second working spindle with a second workpiece receiving means which faces the first workpiece receiving means, at least one second tool slide with a tool carrier, in such a manner that this is constructed as compactly as possible it is suggested that the machine frame have an elongated machine base member, that the machine base member have a first support section and a second support section arranged to follow this, that each of the support sections have a base side, a spindle support side located opposite this and two slide support sides located opposite one another and between the base side and the spindle support side, that the first working spindle be arranged on the spindle support side of the first support section and the second working spindle be arranged on the spindle support side of the second support section, and that the firs

  • Patent number: 5392501
Abstract: In an automatic lathe, a rotatable turret head is supported on a cross slide arrangement for longitudinal and transverse movements with respect to a headstock spindle. At least one counter spindle, associated with the headstock spindle, clamps a workpiece to be severed from the workpiece rod material. The counter spindle and at least one tool holder are arranged on the turret head whereby either the Counter spindle or the tool holder can be moved selectively into alignment with the headstock spindle by the rotation of the turret head. Additional tool holders, disposed spaced and parallel to each other on an additional tool carrier, can be moved selectively into alignment with the counter spindle. At least one turret head tool holder is a multiple tool holder with a plurality of tool clamping devices arranged spaced and parallel to each other. In one turret head position, one tool clamping device is opposite the headstock spindle and the counter spindle is opposite one of the additional tool holders.

  • Patent number: 4742740
Abstract: A controlled lathe having a rotatable main spindle with a hollow interior and a plurality of radially adjustable guide bodies for guiding a rod having a portion located within the hollow interior of the main spindle. Each guide body rests on a support body and is adjustable with respect to the support body by an axially movable inner tube located within the hollow interior of the main spindle. Axial movement of the inner tube to adjust the guide bodies is effected by an adjusting member which is mounted on the end of the inner tube and which is rotatable with the main spindle during normal lathe operation. The adjusting member is threadedly connected to a member which is attached to the main spindle, and a holding device secures the adjusting member against rotation when the guide bodies are to be adjusted which causes axial movement of the adjusting member and the inner tube due to the threaded connection.

  • Patent number: 4676666
Abstract: At least two telescopically interengaging cover members (20, 22 or 30, 32, 34) are associated with each of two or more parallel guide means (12, 14). They are displaceable with respect to each other irrespective of the cover members of the or each other guide means. The cover members (20, 22) of a first one (12) of two adjacent guide means (12, 14) each comprise an elastic apron (26) along their respective edge facing the second one (14) of these guide means. The apron lies in sliding contact on the cover members (30, 32, 34) of the second guide means (14). In this manner the or each space between guide means (12, 14) is covered in addition to the guide means themselves. And yet the cover members (20, 22 or 30, 32, 34) associated with the different guide means (12, 14) remain movable independently.

  • Patent number: 4611383
Abstract: The tool holder (14) includes a tool holder head (30) having a planar abutment face (38) and a tool holder shaft (40) extending at right angles away from the abutment face (38) and adapted to be clamped in a receiving bore (44) of a tool support (10). A gripper plate (50) lies in abutment against the abutment face (38) all around the tool holder shaft (40) and has two gripping faces (54 and 56) inclined with respect to each other at one side of the tool holder shaft (40) and another gripping face (58) at the opposite side inclined with respect to said two gripping faces. The gripper plate (50) is adapted to be grasped in such manner by a gripper (20) that the tool holder (14) will adopt an exactly predetermined position with respect to the gripper (20), regardless of how the tool holder is designed otherwise.
