Publication number: 20190197521Abstract: A system of servers and algorithms allows merchants to receive value on behalf of a customer as a gift from a third party or for the merchant to proactively award value to the customer. The system receives an indication of credit sponsored by the merchant for a personal account number (PAN) of the customer. The system then creates a specialized monitor for the customer's transactions to identify transactions meeting certain criteria, including merchant, and applies the credited funds for the purchases. These credits may be made in real time at the register during a purchase or via a statement credit when the customer's bill is processed. The scope of the monitoring process may be expanded to partner brands or co-marketing partners. As the funds are applied, the system generates a settlement message to transfer funds from the merchant to an issuer associated with the PAN or other clearinghouse.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 22, 2017Publication date: June 27, 2019Inventors: Peter Rhee, Edmar Soriano, Alexander Campbell, Wesley Kimathi Marangu

Publication number: 20140129313Abstract: Systems and methods configured to allow an offer campaign to be specified based on event requirements associated with multiple, different merchants. The event requirements are linked via prerequisite conditions to form the offer campaign. Each event may identify an event related to one merchant (e.g., a payment transaction for a purchase from the merchant) and an optional action to be performed in response to a user satisfying the requirements of the event. Each merchant in the offer campaign is allowed to insert an event related to the merchant, subsequently edit the inserted event, and identify other events in the offer campaign as prerequisite requirements of the event related to the merchant. Merchants may be prevented from inserting or editing events specific to other merchants.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 5, 2013Publication date: May 8, 2014Applicant: Visa International Service AssociationInventors: Douglas Joseph Rappoport, Melinda Langdon Kirkpatrick, Wesley Kimathi Marangu, Heather Janette Combs
