  • Patent number: 6070606
Abstract: A method of non-releasably quick-connecting a tubular metal conduit to the inlet of a non-metallic valve body. A closure having a tube-receiving bore is then pre-assembled with a frictionally engaging spring washer and seal rings therein and is then secured to the valve inlet preferably by non-metallic weldment. The tubular conduit is then inserted into the bore and radially compresses the seal rings and is frictionally engages the spring washer to prevent subsequent removal of the conduit.

  • Patent number: 5299592
Abstract: An electrically operated valve assembly having a plastic body with a solenoid coil attached for moving an armature valve member for effecting flow from the vale inlet to outlet. In one embodiment the armature is a pilot valve slidably movable in a guide over which the solenoid is received. A spring loaded check valve in the guide releases over pressure within the valving chamber. In another embodiment a spring loaded check valve in the body inlet passage releases over pressure to a bypass passage to the outlet. In a third embodiment a slug having a spring loaded poppet relief valve is welded over an opening in the inlet passage at generally right angles to the inlet fitting to provide direct relief of over pressure in the inlet.

  • Patent number: 4981155
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuated, pilot operated valve having a nonmetallic body with a pressure responsive disphragm for opening the main valve and defining, in cooperation with a guide member, a pilot chamber having an armature/pilot valve member movably received thereon. The guide member has a bleed-supply hole formed therein and is secured to the body by an annular member attached to the body by nonmetallic weldment and integrally defining a cup into which a solenoid coil is received over the guide member and potted by liquid-cast insulating material. An armature guide member-diaphragm subassembly has the guide with armature received therein with the diaphragm peripherally secured thereto by a ring pressed thereover, the ring interfitting with cooperating body surfaces to define restricted passage to filter flow to the pilot chamber bleed hole.

  • Patent number: 4817914
Abstract: An electromagnetically actuated appliance water inlet valve having an elastomeric valve seat with molded in reinforcement stiffener to minimize distortion at assembly and upon exposure to high water line pressures. Lugs on the electromagnetic armature guide engage the periphery of the reinforcement to create a subassembly of armature, return spring, valve seat and guide for ease and economies of assembly. One embodiment of the reinforcement comprises an apertured disc. Other embodiments comprise an annular ring having "C" shaped and "U" shaped transverse sections. Tabs provided in the base of the ferromagnetic pole frame are deformed over a recess in the valve body to provide positive retention of the pole frame to the body.

  • Patent number: 4697608
Abstract: An electromagnetic solenoid operated plastic bodied appliance inlet valve having the armature, poppet, spring, elastomeric valve seat and plastic armature guide installed as a sub-assembly onto the valve body and secured thereon in fluid pressure sealing arrangement by weldment of a plastic retainer thereon. The electro-magnetic coil and pole frame are installed as a separate assembly. In one embodiment the valve inlet has a metal insert retained in the body by insertion of a metal spring clip and the body closed by weldment of a plastic cover thereover. In another embodiment the insert is retained by an annular ring received over the insert and secured to the body by weldment. The metal insert receives a threaded compression-type tube fitting for attachment of the supply tube. Reaction torque on the insert from the tube fitting is absorbed by the valve mounting bracket which engages hexagonal surfaces on the exterior end of the metal insert.

  • Patent number: 4502661
Abstract: A pilot operated solenoid actuated valve assembly having a differential pressure sensing diaphragm for opening the main valve in response to loss of pressure through a pilot flow valve from a control pressure chamber. The pilot valve-armature is housed in a non-magnetic guide which is sealed about the diaphragm to form the control pressure chamber. Tubular pole segments surround the guide and define a magnetic air gap. An auxiliary pole piece is loosely received in the guide and is spring biased away from the armature. The pole piece enables the armature to be held fully open at a substantially reduced level of voltage from the actuation or service voltage.

  • Patent number: 4290450
Abstract: A fluid mixing valve is disclosed having three pressure operated pilot controlled solenoid operated valves (12, 14, 16) mounted on a unitary valve housing (10) which defines a primary fluid passageway (74) an outlet (76), and two inlet fluid passageways (81, 85) connectable to separate pressurized fluid sources. The solenoid valves selectively control fluid flow from the inlet passageways to the primary passageway which also functions as a mixing chamber. Flow control orifices (78, 80, 82) integrally molded into the valve housing are disposed intermediate the primary fluid passageway and the respective inlet passageways for limiting the flow rate to the outlet.

  • Patent number: 4178573
Abstract: An electrically operated valve having a mechanically actuated position for valving a fluid port between an open and closed position. A first tubular pole member contained within an electrical coil is movable between a first and second position with respect to a second, stationary, coaxially aligned tubular pole member. A reset spring urges the first pole member toward the first position. An armature, having a valve sealing surface at one end, is movable between first and second positions for alternately closing and opening a fluid port. The first pole member defines an air gap with respect to the second pole member which, during energization of the electrical coil, has associated therewith a magnetic flux with accompanying lines of magnetic force. One end of the armature is spaced closely adjacent to the air gap so that, upon energization of the coil, the magnetic force lifts the armature to the second position, overcoming a second biasing spring which normally maintains the armature in the first position.

  • Patent number: 4174091
Abstract: A dishwasher drain valve provides axial alignment of inlet and outlet ports, a poppet is pivotally mounted in a chamber adjacent to the flow chamber of the valve and moves from a position blocking flow to one allowing substantially free straight through flow. The poppet is configured to provide self-centering within the valve body and allow for self-alignment with a valve seat formed in the through passage between the inlet and outlet ports.
