    Abstract: An inverted constant force window balance system has a carrier assembly including a housing with a first and a second housing wall, a coil spring with a free end, and a shoe assembly slidably coupled to the housing. The shoe assembly includes a first and a second shoe face. The housing slides between a first and a second position relative to the shoe assembly. When in the first position, the first and second housing walls are substantially non-coplanar with the first shoe face, and when in the second position, the first housing wall is substantially coplanar with the first shoe face and substantially non-coplanar with the second shoe face. The shoe assembly receives a pivot bar from a window sash and extends a brake upon rotation thereof. The balance system also includes a mounting bracket releasably coupled to the housing and coupled to the free end of the coil spring.

The first end configured to mount to a side rail of a window sash and the second end having an outside surface spaced from the side rail in a transverse direction. The transverse direction being substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal axis. A cam block is disposed proximate the second end and between the plate and the side rail. An adjustment fastener is coupled to the cam block and configured to slide the cam block along the longitudinal axis such that the outside surface of the second end is adjustable along the transverse direction and in relation to the side rail.

One end of a spring is fixed within the channel. A movable block is secured to the other end of the spring. Rollers are rotatably mounted in the movable block. A single roller is rotatably mounted to a fixed block which is secured to the channel. A cord exit roller is disposed proximate the bottom guide. The first end of a cord is fixed relative to the channel. The middle portion of the cord is routed about the rollers mounted in the movable block and mounted to the fixed block. A second end of the cord is routed around the cord exit roller and is attachable to a window jamb.
