  • Patent number: 4266435
Abstract: The chain has laminated, laterally flexible link members interconnected by pairs of rocker-joint bearing members. The laminated links freely engage and are retained by transversely spaced notches in the bearing members, which also engage drive sprocket teeth. The chain is manually separable and is designed to operate on the industrially standardized roller chain type drive sprockets.

  • Patent number: 4227425
Abstract: An inverted tooth type chain has groups of toothed links interconnected by a round rocker joint pin member extending through substantially round apertures at overlapping ends of the links. The apertures are larger in diameter than the pins to provide clearance for the rocking joint action of the links on the pins comprise a self-centering joint. The pins are manually removable without tools and have link assembly retention means at each end.

  • Patent number: 4190138
Abstract: A toothed drive gear is provided with a concentric resilient element having corrugations engaged by the teeth of the gear. Rotation of the gear wedges the resilient element into graduated traction with the bore of a concentric annular driven member. The driven member can overrun the drive member in either direction of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4188837
Abstract: The system permits selective combining of one of a plurality of prime movers with a plurality of propeller shafts by means of a transverse chain drive between the propeller shafts to enable efficient multi-screw ship operation with one engine.

  • Patent number: 4078442
Abstract: The drive has axially opposed pairs of conical discs on parallel driving and driven shafts interconnected by a chain having traction members on the ends of the chain joint pins. The traction members are shaped to collect and wedge a high pressure lubricating film at the disc contacts. The driving shaft has lever control means for moving the discs axially to vary the drive speed ratio and the driven shaft has spring members maintaining chain tension. The driven shaft includes means limiting initial contact with the discs to permit graduated chain engagement and the chain link members have a rocking bearing contact with the pins.

  • Patent number: 4047395
Abstract: Coaxially spaced externally toothed gears are bridged and interconnected by a resilient annular gear formed from a coil of flexible material having corrugations shaped to engage the gear teeth. The external peripheral of the annular gear is enclosed by a sleeve member maintaining it in resiliently wedged circumferential driving engagement with the externally toothed gears.

  • Patent number: 4010707
Abstract: A propulsion unit for vessels has rotatably interconnected upper and lower housing portions, the upper portion being arranged to extend horizontally through the hull and permit rotation of the unit in a vertical plane for access to the lower portion. The lower portion is independently rotatable through 360.degree. to provide steering and reverse functions and includes a screw propeller positioned for rotation in a horizontal plane enclosed by fluid inlet and outlet ducts, a shallow depth inlet duct being the only projection below the hull bottom line. The unit is designed to provide normal propulsion for slow and medium speed boats and jet propulsion for light, high speed planing craft.

  • Patent number: 4005609
Abstract: An automatic transmission using a drive chain having traction members engaging axially opposed pairs of conical discs on parallel input and output shafts. One of each pair of discs is provided with torque responsive elements for varying the chain engagement pitch diameter in response to varying input and output torques. The chain traction members are shaped to collect and wedge a lubricating film at the disc contacts. When starting under load the chain initially is in limited contact with the discs on the output shaft and functions as a gradual engagement clutch.

  • Patent number: 3955377
Abstract: A flexible coupling for transmitting power and accommodating compound misalignment between shaft hub or tubular members. The coupling comprises an extended length of a given width of thin, resilient, high strength material provided with lengthwise corrugations and coiled freely on itself with meshing corrugations to a given radial thickness to constitute a hollow, laminated flexible element having annular, axially spaced corrugations extending between integrally flanged end portions for attachment to coaxial transmission members. The element is self-sealing and can be used to transmit fluid pressure between tubular interconnected members.
