    Abstract: A valve arrangement for adding air to the intake line of an internal combustion engine, particularly Otto-cycle engines, during the deceleration of the engine. A diaphragm which is controlled by intake pipe pressure, acts against the force of a spring and is located within a dosing or metering unit so as to divide the unit into two chambers. The diaphragm actuates the valve via a rod, and the two chambers are connected through a calibration and a check valve. The upper chamber can be vented through a bore or opening by means of a second diaphragm which is controlled by the intake pipe pressure and acts against the force of a spring. A barometer bellows determines the preload of the spring through a disc and a rod.

    Abstract: A carburetor has an operator operable butterfly valve and an auxiliary throttle located upstream of the butterfly valve. The auxiliary throttle is urged toward closure by temperature sensitive thermostatic means and is urged toward opening by the airflow drawn by the engine. A pneumatic element subjected to the pressure downstream of the butterfly valve opens the auxiliary throttle to a predetermined extent immediately after cranking. A pneumatic device responsive to the depression downstream of the butterfly valve urges the auxiliary throttle toward closure when the butterfly valve is abruptly opened while the engine is cold. The action of that pneumatic device is of short duration, and consequently the auxiliary throttle returns to its partially open position as acceleration proceeds.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a regulating arrangement for metering a supplementary quantity of air for improving the combustion in internal combustion engines or afterburning of exhaust gases. The amount of air entering the regulating arrangement is metered as a function of the engine speed by means of an air pump driven by the engine. Part of the air entering the regulating arrangement is removed and returned depending on predetermined parameters. An auxiliary device responds to an emergency signal for the immediate shutoff of the fuel or fuel-air mixture used in the combustion. The emergency signal is transmitted by means monitoring the fuel-air ratio within substantially narrow tolerance limits of a predetermined threshold value.

    Abstract: A control installation for the dosing or proportioning of a secondary air quantity for the improvement of combustion in internal combustion engines, or the afterburning of the exhaust gases of internal combustion engines, including an auxiliary arrangement which is responsive to an emergency signal for effecting the prompt shutting-off of the secondary air. The emergency signal may be initiated in response to a failure in the ignition voltage of the internal combustion engine; an increase in the hydrocarbon content of the exhaust gases; a disparity between the position of the mixture dosing element and the engine rotational speed; the exceeding of a limiting temperature in the exhaust gas manifold; or the exceeding of a limiting temperature in the afterburner.
