  • Publication number: 20070130787
Abstract: The problem with known veneer dryers is that the individual drying zones cannot be separated distinctly. The optimal process conditions, which change during the drying process, cannot therefore be adjusted as required, as this leads to short-circuit currents between the drying zones. The aim of the invention is to provide a veneer dryer, in which the drying parameters can be optimally adjusted zone by zone. To achieve this, the drying zones (2, 3, 4) are arranged one above the other on horizontal planes and are thus effectively separated from one another. The inventive dryer is used for the production of veneers.

  • Patent number: 6241463
Abstract: Fore many applications it is desirable to determine the operating level, i.e. the current flow rate V and the total pressure difference &Dgr;pt of a fan in the installed state without external measuring points and calibration. The invention should develop a suitable method and a corresponding fan. In the method of the invention, from a measured effective pressure difference &Dgr;pMw a flow rate V is determined and from that, via an operational characteristic curve a target value for the total pressure difference &Dgr;pst is found. By comparing the target value &Dgr;pst determined this way with its measured value &Dgr;pMt the operating level and its accuracy are determined. For this purpose on the fan of the invention measuring points are provided for measuring one or more effective pressure differences &Dgr;pMw and the total pressure difference &Dgr;pMt.

  • Patent number: 4831747
Abstract: The invention relates to a continuous dryer for veneer. In addition to terature sensors near the inlet and middle zones to determine heat demand and to control heat input in these zones, the dryer also has an infrared detector at the exit end to determine surface temperature and thus to determine residual moisture of the veneer. The signal from this infrared detector is processed to give a control signal for blowers in the drying zones near the exit. By this means, more precise and reliable control in final moisture is achieved. Variations in dryer load, initial moisture, wood density, and sheet thickness can be better tolerated.
