  • Patent number: 9822421
Abstract: A method for making a vehicle body component includes forming a generally flat plate of unhardened, hot-formable sheet steel with a marginal shape which corresponds essentially to the developed configuration of the finished vehicle body component. The formed plate is hot-formed and hardened in a single press tool to define a sheet profile which corresponds to the configuration of the finished vehicle body component, and a surface coating is applied to the sheet profile.

  • Patent number: 8247679
Abstract: An apparatus for generating electrical power from the waste heat generated by an internal combustion engine includes a first pipe wall through which a heated medium flows, a thermoelectric generator disposed exteriorly to the inner pipe wall, and a second pipe wall disposed exteriorly to the thermoelectric generator. The first pipe wall and the second pipe wall form at least a partially double-walled pipe. The first pipe wall saves as a high-temperature source. The second pipe wall serves as a low-temperature source.

  • Patent number: 8070904
Abstract: In a method of making a body part or chassis part of a motor vehicle, several pre-impregnated fiber materials (prepregs) are stacked on top o one another, with an outermost prepreg intended for attachment to a metallic base body being provided with an adhesive. The stacked prepregs are then shaped into a three-dimensional preform which is then compressed with the base body in a press tool for bonding the preform with the base body and allowing the adhesive to cure, thereby producing a joined structure which is allowed to cure.

  • Patent number: 7605929
Abstract: This present invention relates to an apparatus for measuring structural parts which includes a measuring system having at least two sensors for optoelectronic scanning of such a structural part wherein said part and said sensors are movable relatively to each other along a shifting path and wherein said sensors are provided with a radiation source directed to a surface of the structural part and with a receiver, characterized by the fact that at least one sensor is an area sensor adapted to scan one surface section of the structural part (2) in each measuring time interval and/or that at least one sensor is a line sensor adapted to detect one profile line of said structural part in each measuring interval.

  • Patent number: 7357060
Abstract: A vehicle is armored the steps of sequentially making a steel plate with a thickness of 4 mm to 15 mm of by weight 0.2 to 0.4% carbon, 0.3 to 0.8% silicon, 1.0 to 2.5% manganese, max. 0.02% phosphorous, max. 0.02% sulfur, max. 0.05% aluminum, max. 2% copper, 0.1 to 0.5% chromium, max. 2% nickel 0.1 to 1% molybdenum, 0.001 to 0.01% boron, 0.01 to 1% tungsten, max. 0.05% nitrogen, and balance iron and impurities. This plate is heated to above the AC3 temperature and deformed without cooling in a press. While still in the press, the steel plate is cooled and cured. Then the deformed and cured steel plate is taken out of the press and mounted on the motor vehicle without significant further working or shaping.
