Abstract: A web of a cross-linked plastic material foamed in a closed-cell structure or configuration, having substantially parallel upper and lower surfaces, wherein canals penetrate the foamed material and extend and open to at least one of said upper and lower surfaces, and wherein substances can be introduced into the canals to impart beneficial properties to the web of foamed material.

Abstract: A wound dressing comprising at least five layers, the two outer layers comprising a permeable material non-adherent to a wound, below each outer layer there being arranged an absorbent layer each comprising cellulosic fibers, the absorbent layers being separated by a distribution layer comprising at least one of cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose and a starch polymer. Advantageously the outer layers comprise a nonwoven fleece, a knit or woven fabric, or a perforated plastic sheet of at least one of polypropylene, polyethylene, polyesters, and polyamides, and the periphery of at least one of the outer layers carries a self-adhering adhesive inert to the skin. The entire structure is needled and, if fibrous, the outer layers are lightly thermally bonded so as to be fuzz-free.

Abstract: A scouring and cleaning cloth having a coating of a solid binding agent on at least a portion of each surface in an open pattern applied by a printing process, said pattern comprising superelevated bars, the bars in at least one surface having embedded therein at least one of an abrasive and a soap additive.

Abstract: An absorbent textile sheet material suitable for use as a cleaning cloth, skid-resistant underlayment or the like, comprising a consolidated nonwoven fabric coated on up to about 70% of both surfaces with binding agent present as a three-dimensionally superelevated printed pattern providing a squeegee-like action when wiped over a wet surface, is produced by impregnating a fibrous web with a binding agent and drying to form a coherent sheet material, applying to each surface of said sheet material a foamed dispersion comprising rubber, the foam being printed onto each surface to cover from about 30 to 70% of the surface, and heating to coagulate the foam and to leave on each surface a superelevated printed pattern of binder exerting a squeegee-like action in use.
