  • Patent number: 4242564
Abstract: A frost plug immersion heater has improved clamping structure which comprises a clamp element having a base engageable against the inner end of the heater body and a pair of channel-shaped clamping arms narrower than the base extending in splayed relation from opposite sides of the base, with the free ends of the arms initially close enough together so that the heater can be installed straight into a cylinder block core plug hole. A T-shape bolt has a cross arm bar-shaped head which has opposite ends engaging in the arm channels and spreads the clamp arms when a nut threaded on the outer end portion of the bolt shank is tightened against the outer end of the heater body. The cross arm head has a thickened crown area of maximum mass providing a maximum strength portion aligned with the shank of the bolt and the top of the cross arm tapers with diminished mass toward the opposite ends thereof to provide a truss-like reinfocement for the head when force is applied through the bolt shank as the nut is tightened.

  • Patent number: 4138331
Abstract: A method of incinerating toilet waste comprising applying combustion heat in substantially the manner of applying heat to the bottom of a cooking pot under and to and through the bottom of a heat permeable upwardly opening receptacle containing the waste and thereby effecting substantial boiling and incineration of the waste, supplying preheated air into the receptacle, and compelling vapor and products of combustion generated by the combustion heat to pass from the receptacle into a combustion zone under the receptacle and through the combustion heat and into an after burner flue leading from the combustion chamber. An aesthetically desirable and sanitary masking foam may be applied to the surface of accumulated toilet waste in the receptacle prior to boiling and incineration.

  • Patent number: 4051561
Abstract: A store and burn incinerating toilet has a heat permeable upwardly opening receptacle over a combustion chamber and under a deck providing a toilet seat support and having a receiving opening over the receptacle, the opening being closeable by a removable plug closure when a selectively operable heat producing device in the combustion chamber is in operation. Vapor and products of combustion generated in the receptacle pass from the receptacle into the front portion of the combustion chamber and toward the rear of the chamber and into an afterburner flue stack leading from the rear of the chamber. Preheated air is introduced into the receptacle during the burn cycle, and air is also introduced at the lower end of the stack. While incineration is in progress the closure is locked by a thermally responsive safety-locking device. During the accumulating and storing interval, a layer of masking foam may be applied and maintained over the waste in the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4021968
Abstract: A counterbalancing hinge for range oven doors or the like includes the following features: (a) articulated members one of which is a bracket adapted to be secured to a supporting body structure such as a range and the other of which is an arm adapted to be received within an oven door or the like and carrying a counterbalancing spring, (b) means for selectively adjusting the counterbalancing spring, (c) door leveling means, (d) an arm latching and locking device activated when the door is removed from the arm, (e) a strain separable detent carried by the spring supporting arm to restrain the arm selectively in door-partially open position, (f) counterbalancing spring action controlling mechanism, (g) spring for retaining the door so it can be removed only when in partially open position, (h) only a screwdriver is needed for installing or removing the counterbalancing hinge relative to the installation, (i) only a screwdriver is needed to, adjust, remove or replace the counterbalancing spring.

  • Patent number: 3937207
Abstract: A cooking gas range equipped with an oven door having a vertical window allowing visual inspection of oven and broiler compartments. The top of the range is held on a fixed support with a hold down assembly. Hold down assembly has a tubular member which serves as a flash tube for the pilot light burner and an expandable sleeve releasably mounted on the fixed support.
