  • Patent number: 6364220
Abstract: A fuel injector for fuel-injection systems of internal combustion engines which includes an elongated, axially running, thin-walled, non-magnetic sleeve. At its downstream end, the sleeve has a bottom section, which runs substantially normal to the otherwise axial extent of the sleeve along a longitudinal valve axis. A valve needle, which is securely joined to an armature and a valve-closure member, can move axially within a feed-through opening of the sleeve. The valve-closure member cooperates with a valve-seat surface provided on a valve-seat body, the valve-seat body being pressed into the sleeve and likewise abutting, for example, on the bottom section of the sleeve. The sleeve constituted as a drawn sheet-metal part extends axially over more than half of the axial length of the fuel injector. The fuel injector is suited for applications in fuel-injection systems of mixture-compressing internal combustion engines having externally supplied ignition.

  • Publication number: 20010002681
Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel injector for fuel-injection systems of internal combustion engines, in which is provided an elongated, axially running, thin-walled, non-magnetic sleeve (12). At its downstream end, the sleeve (12) has a bottom section (20), which runs substantially normal to the otherwise axial extent of the sleeve (12) along a longitudinal valve axis (10). A valve needle (28), which is securely joined to an armature (24) and a valve-closure member (30), can move axially within a feed-through opening (21) of the sleeve (12). The valve-closure member (30) cooperates with a valve-seat surface (35) provided on a valve-seat body (25), the valve-seat body (25) being pressed into the sleeve (12) and likewise abutting, for example, on the bottom section (20) of the sleeve (12). The sleeve (12) constituted as a drawn sheet-metal part extends axially over more than half of the axial length of the fuel injector.

  • Patent number: 5310373
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a longlife, resistant spark plug for internal combustion engines. The electrode (16), according to the invention, of the spark plug is assembled from a plurality of initial parts: an initial part for a corrosion-resistant shell (31'), an initial part for a core (33') of high thermal conductivity, and an initial part for an erosion-resistant region (32'). These initial parts are jointly impact-extruded to form an electrode blank which is formed into the center electrode (16) by machining its head (51) and its region on the combustion-chamber side. Electrodes which are especially highly stressed are given a fourth initial part, which is also to be impact-extruded, consists of highly erosion-resistant material and is still arranged on the combustion-chamber side in front of the erosion-resistant region (32'). The electrode (16) can be used as a center electrode (16), but can also be used, if necessary, as an earth electrode after an embossing and bending process.

  • Patent number: 5267694
Abstract: A fuel injection nozzle for internal combustion engines having a nozzle body secured on a nozzle holder, and a valve needle that is axially displaceable in the nozzle holder, the valve needle being raised from a valve seat for fuel injection by the fuel pressure, counter to a closing spring assembly of first and second helical compression springs disposed in series. The total stroke of the valve needle is divided into a prestroke and a remaining stroke. To attain an injection nozzle having the smallest possible outside diameter, the spring chamber receiving the closing springs comprises a blind bore of substantially constant diameter, on a bottom of which the first closing spring is supported. To support the second closing spring, a pressure shoulder part in the form of a ring is inserted into the blind bore; the pressure shoulder part is fixed by deformation of contacting parts of the wall of the nozzle holder.

  • Patent number: 4291713
Abstract: The seam of the tubular wrapper for the rod-like filler of tobacco or filter material in a cigarette or filter rod making machine is heated by a first heating element during acceleration of the machine from zero speed to normal operating speed. When the machine reaches the normal speed, the seam is additionally heated by a second heating element whose heating action is more pronounced that that of the first heating element. The first heating element is caused to engage the moving seam when the first increment of adhesive film, which is applied to one marginal portion of the wrapper by a paster, reaches the first heating element. The second heating element is moved into engagement with the seam when the RPM of the prime mover for the filler transporting conveyor reaches a preselected value.

  • Patent number: 4059940
Abstract: A tray filling apparatus wherein a suction head accumulates rows of cigarettes and a pusher transfers the rows into a tray which is supported by an endless chain conveyor. The suction head and the pusher receive motion from a drive which includes a variable-speed DC-motor, a step-down gearing which is driven by the output shaft of the motor, and a mechanical transmission having a first component which moves the suction head between a lower position in which the latter accumulates a row of cigarettes and one of two raised positions, and a second component which moves the pusher forwardly not later than when the suction head reaches a raised position.

  • Patent number: 3974750
Abstract: Successive filter rod sections which are produced in a filter rod making machine are caused to pass through a body of ionized air before they leave the machine. This insures that ionized air destroys the electrostatic charges which the non-conductive wrappers and/or fillers of filter rod sections accumulate in the machine upstream of the ionizing station. The conveyor or conveyors which transport the filter rod sections through ionized air are designed to transport the sections sideways. At least one electrode of the ionizing device or devices for air is preferably connected with a source of high-voltage a-c energy.
