  • Patent number: 6446557
Abstract: The actuation device has nail-shaped contact pins (1), the heads (3) of which project into an ignition chamber (8), with the ends of a resistor wire (6) being attached to the heads (3) of the contact pins (1). The detonator (9) which fills the ignition chamber (8) is a detonator which is free-flowing during the manufacture of the device, which envelopes the heads (3) of the contact pins (1) and the resistor wire (6) and which subsequently solidifies. The contact pins are surrounded by an electrically conductive extension (23) of the housing of the actuation device, so that a spark gap (F) is formed here; to discharge overvoltage, several sparks can flash over this gap simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 5936189
Abstract: The cartridged ammunition comprises a projectile (11) and a cartridge case (10) receiving the latter. The cartridge case (10) contains a cartridge (12) limiting a high-pressure space (21) in which a propelling charge (14) is located. The cartridge (12) is surrounded by a low-pressure space (10a) limited by the inside walls of the cartridge case (10) and a part of the base of the projectile (11). At the rear of the projectile (11) a tracer composition (11b) is arranged in a tube (27) which protrudes through the upper wall of the cartridge (12) into the high-pressure space (21). Projectile and cartridge case are interconnected via a rated breaking point (12d). The pressure for expelling the projectile (11) from the cartridge case is supplied by the pressure both in the high-pressure space (21) and in the low-pressure space (10a). Upon expulsion the volume of the high-pressure space (21) is furthermore enlarged when the tracer composition is pulled out thereof.

  • Patent number: 4991510
Abstract: The invention relates to an impact fuse (2) having fore-bore safety for a projectile (1), comprising a percussion needle (3) stationary on the fuse and an impact body (4) containing a percussion cap (5) and supported slidingly in the direction of flight, as well as a race for a blocking ball (23) between the impact body and the inner wall of the projectile casing. Which, upon premature impact on an obstacle, is jammed in its race (22) between a shoulder (18, 19, 20) on the inner wall of the casing and a ramp (17) of a groove (14, 15, 16) on the impact body (4), thereby preventing detonation. In order to allow for adjustment of predefined distances for the fore-bore safety, the invention proposes giving the race (22) for the blocking ball (23) a stepped design so that the blocking ball (23) can be jammed at several places within the fuse (2) between shoulders (18, 19, 20) and ramps (17) of different grooves (14, 15, 16).

  • Patent number: 4892038
Abstract: Cartridge ammunition 1 for a grenade pistol includes a casing 10 made, for example, of plastic, the casing having an opening. A projectile 11 disposed in the casing opening and includes a tracer charge and/or delayed-action charge 11b. A primer 13 and a propelling charge 14 the disposed in a cup 12 at the base of casing 10. The cup 12 is composed of two mutually concentric sleeves 12a, and 12b, with the inner sleeve 12b being mounted so as to be slidable in the outer sleeve 12a and extendable in the manner of a telescope. The outer sleeve 12a has a free end section which is provided, with an external thread 100 followed by an annular, predetermined, circumferential break location 12d. The base of projectile 11 includes a sleeve 17 provided with an internal thread which can be screwed onto the outer sleeve 12a of cup 12. A firing channel 12c is provided in the bottom or end wall 12e of the cup-shaped inner sleeve 12b, with such firing channel being oriented toward the tracer and/or delayed-action charge 11b.

  • Patent number: 4754704
Abstract: A propellant charge for the reduction of base eddying or drag of a shell 12 with a centrally disposed ignition conduit and an ignition device for the charge disposed in the conduit. To improve the ignition readiness of the propellant charge, the inner surface of the propellant charge, which surrounds the ignition conduit, is formed so that it conically narrows in the aft direction. Additionally, the inner surface of the propellant charge may be provided with stepped sections. Finally, the ignition conduits disposed in the housing of the ignition device may be disposed at an angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the propellant charge so that they face the inner surface thereof.

  • Patent number: 4727811
Abstract: An improved smoke canister 1 has a high-pressure proof propellant chamber 20 containing a propellant charge 21, consisting of a reduced-smoke generating powder, which can be ignited electrically by an ignition charge 19. Capillary bores 20b and 20c are provided respectively in both end faces of the propellant chamber 20. When a smoke canister 1 is fired, propellant gases under high pressure exit via the capillary bore 20b into the launcher (not shown), and contribute to the uniform acceleration of the smoke canister 1. This makes it possible to launch heavier smoke canisters. The smoke-generating charge 12 is ignited by means of the second capillary bore 20c.

  • Patent number: 4210555
Abstract: There is disclosed a process for the generation of a dense cloud, as for the purpose of camouflage. Finely divided solid particles are discharged for a container, as by means of compressed gas, the solid particles being in the form of a microfine powder having a particle diameter of up to 60 .mu.m and being impenetrable to visible light and infra-red light of up to 14 .mu.m wave-length and having a settling velocity of up to 5 cm/sec. The powders used are talc, kaolin, calcium carbonates, magnesium carbonates, sodium hydrogen carbonates or other free-flowing powders or powders that have been rendered flowable, which form buoyant clouds upon being dispersed as by atomization.
