  • Patent number: 4714205
Abstract: A garlic press comprising a cylindrical housing and within that an axially movable ram. Movement of the ram is brought about by mating screw threads between the ram and plunger and twisting one relative the other. The housing has an open lower end which is closed by a perforated grinding plate which fits flushly within the lower end of the housing and is attached, as by screw threads, to the outside of the housing so that the inner end of the ram can fit closely within the housing and ensure full expulsion of all the garlic pieces and juice. An additional feature is a cover which encloses the lower end of the housing and the grinding plate to prevent drying out of the garlic and garlic smells when the device is not in use. This cover can fit with a skirt formed on the housing and can have a flat lower surface on which the whole device can stand upright when not in use.

  • Patent number: 4624166
Abstract: A kitchen or domestic food slicer having a flat bed surface over which the food is moved and a knife mounted essentially across that surface. The knife alone being pivotably mounted such that its sharp leading edge can be raised or lowered relative the bed surface to vary the thickness of cut. The pivoting of the knife is achieved by cam surfaces on a pair of bars one positioned either side of the bed surface, the bars being slidable lengthwise by a rotatable knob and the cam surfaces including inclined portions to cause pivoting of the knife as the bars slide longitudinally.

  • Patent number: 4563818
Abstract: A can opener providing a circular cut around the cylindrical wall of a can below the lid and rim which are severed by the cut from the rest of the can. A pair of body members having integrally formed handles are pivoted to one another. A rotatable spindle attached to a driving wheel drives the can opener. A cutting wheel forms a nip with the driving wheel in an operating position to force the cutting edge to penetrate through the wall of the can. A mounting plate carrying the cutting wheel is slidably supported by one body member and is movable by cam means between the operating position and a retracted position as the body members are pivoted between their limits of pivoting. In the retracted position the wheel withdraws into an upstanding guard whose edge abuts the severed top and displaces it.
