  • Publication number: 20220008728
Abstract: A method is described, which provides electrical stimulation to a person, where the current flows from a subcranial electrode, through a target brain region, through a separate conductive path, and back to a subcutaneous electrode, and where the parameters of the electric current pulses are set to influence the resonant properties of the brain.

  • Publication number: 20220002497
Abstract: A highly permeable sorbent platform based on polysulfone and polystyrene-b-poly(acrylic acid) composite membranes. The membranes possess a fully interconnected network of poly(acrylic acid)-lined pores, which enables the surface chemistry to be tailored through sequential attachment of polyethyleneimine moieties and metal-binding terpyridine ligands. The polyethyleneimine moieties increase the saturation capacity, while the addition of terpyridine enables high-affinity binding to a diversity of transition metal ions. This membrane platform removes such metal contaminants from solution. The metal capture performance of the functionalized membranes persists even in high concentrations of competitive ions. Also, fluorescence quenching of the terpyridine moiety upon metal ion complexation offers an in-situ probe to monitor the extent of sorbent saturation.

  • Publication number: 20210401302
Abstract: A device which provides a measure of the compliance of a vessel wall based on a change in pressure, which causes the vessel to distend. The device comprises a coil and capacitor, forming a tank circuit. The coil is expandable and positioned along a portion of the vessel so that when the portion of the vessel expands or contracts, the coil will also expand or contract, changing the area in side the coil. This change in area alters the coil inductance, and therefore the resonant frequency of the tank circuit, which can be detected externally.

  • Patent number: 10996114
Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to measuring temperature of a fluid within a hydraulic vessel using a temperature probe that has an annular recess circumscribing a projecting sensor tip. The annular recess is configured to permit fluid flow into an aperture region of a vessel wall through which the temperature probe contacts the fluid within the hydraulic vessel. Because the temperature probe projects from the annular recess within the aperture, a net projection dimension, as measured in a projection direction from an interior surface of the vessel wall proximate the aperture to a sensor, is less than a gross projection dimension, as measured in the projection direction from a bottom of the annular recess to the sensor tip. In some embodiments, this configuration advantageously improves a ratio of thermal conductivity between the fluid and the temperature probe and thermal conductivity between the temperature probe and a sensor housing.
