  • Patent number: 6037546
Abstract: A communications cable having superior electrical characteristics and meeting the burn requirements for plenum applications has a core formed of one or more twisted wire pairs having primary insulation formed of a suitable material, such as high density polyethylene. The core is surrounded by a single outer jacket formed from a material having excellent heat/flame resistance characteristics and acceptable electrical characteristics that are substantially stable at relatively high temperatures, such as a foamed thermoplastic halogenated polymer, for example polyvinylidene fluoride material. The electrical conductors utilized by the cable are oversized (relative to conventional 24 gauge conductors) to enhance the electrical performance of the cable. An air gap formed between the conductor core and the outer jacket further enhances the electrical performance of the cable.

  • Patent number: 5913790
Abstract: A plantable retaining wall block having a plant-receiving cavity located in a top surface thereof. The block is constructed so that the plant-receiving cavity lies between portions of side walls which are generally parallel with a front face of the block. The shape of the block is such that a nearly vertical retaining wall may be constructed such that each plant-receiving cavity is substantially exposed to allow vegetation to be planted. The wall block may include a connection member or an alignment member to allow the block to be stabilized and aligned with blocks in adjacent rows of a retaining wall.

  • Patent number: 5865006
Abstract: A retaining wall block and wall construction are disclosed. The retaining wall block is characterized in that it includes a removable flange having pin apertures which pass through the flange and into the body of the block. Such blocks allow the construction of walls having flange connections between adjacent courses of blocks or, when the flange is removed, pin connections between adjacent courses of blocks. The latter connection system is particularly well-suited for constructing walls that require soil reinforcement systems such as geogrids.

  • Patent number: 5771631
Abstract: The invention includes a block for use in landscaping and other applications. The block may have a lip on one or both sides that may function as a mowing strip. The block may have grooves on the bottom for receiving an anchoring strip or defining a conduit. Also, one or both ends of the block may be angled to create a straight, curved, or curvilinear border.

  • Patent number: 5601384
Abstract: A plantable retaining wall comprised of a plurality of rows of plantable retaining wall blocks. Each wall block has a plant-receiving cavity formed in a top surface. The plant-receiving cavity is located between portions of side walls which are generally parallel to the front face of the block. The wall is constructed such that the blocks in each row are offset to expose a substantial portion of the plant-receiving cavity in each block. The shape of the individual wall blocks allows the retaining wall to be constructed in a substantially vertical orientation. The wall blocks may include an alignment means and a connection means allowing the blocks to be aligned and stabilized with respect to blocks in adjacent rows of the retaining wall.

  • Patent number: 5588262
Abstract: A landscaping block system including one or more landscaping blocks having anchoring means for embedding the blocks in a substrate. The blocks each have a groove on the bottom, so that when the blocks are aligned end to end in a substrate, the grooves define a continuous conduit.
