Abstract: A method of forming bulk metallic glass engineering materials, and more particularly a method for forming coarsening microstructures within said engineering materials is provided. Specifically, the method forms ‘designed composites’ by introducing ‘soft’ elastic/plastic inhomogeneities in a metallic glass matrix to initiate local shear banding around the inhomogeneity, and matching of microstructural length scales (for example, L and S) to the characteristic length scale RP (for plastic shielding of an opening crack tip) to limit shear band extension, suppress shear band opening, and avoid crack development.

Abstract: An improved air flow management has an air control device for blocking air from low impedance airflow pathways without high thermal components and directing the air flow initially at specific components with high thermal loading. Other components are cooled by the air as it passes from the high thermal loading component to exit from the unit. The air control device directs the air flow by locating and sizing apertures in the air control device based on the location and thermal load of the components on the printed circuit board. Accordingly, the unit can require less air flow through the unit and smaller or no heat sinks than conventional methods.

Abstract: Commercial aircraft need means of thwarting hijackers. Hijackers may kill or disable the pilot and fly the aircraft directly into a target building. A method of preventing such hijacking is to provide a non-lethal gas to incapacitate the hijackers such that they can be overpowered. This non-lethal gas should be placed to access the air duct of the ventilation system and placed in an area such as the cargo space that is not accessible to the passengers This system can be adapted to home use and for watercraft.

The service center (112) provides the content key (300) to the distributor (114), which removes one level of encryption and provides the content key to the end-user (116).

Abstract: A process for removing chloride ions from steel surfaces and measuring the amount present on the steel surface being tested employs a high frequency waveform alternating current treatment as a pre-measurement step to liberate the chloride ions into deionized water on the steel surface being tested. The conductivity of the water containing the chloride ions is measured in a conductivity cell mounted on the same steel surface being tested. Recovery of chloride ions originally present on the steel test surface (cathode) is 85-95% complete when a sine wave high frequency alternating current is used between the steel test surface (cathode) sealed below an insulating plastic box containing the deionized water and which plastic box contains a steel plate (anode) mounted within and immediately below the inside top of the plastic box conductivity cell. The conductivity of the water in the cell is measured by a conductivity meter after disconnecting the high frequency waveform alternating current.
