  • Patent number: 4327997
Abstract: Method of chrome tanning wherein, after unhairing and bating, a water soluble amino compound is provided in an acidified hide stock solution prior to or simultaneously with addition of a chrome tanning agent. The amount of chrome tanning agent required in the charge, and therefore the amount of chrome in the exhaust liquor or effluent, is thereby substantially reduced, thus providing greater control over pollution due to chrome in leather manufacturing operations.
