Patent number: 10383060Abstract: Systems and methods for effectuating communication in a low power wide area network using a mobile data-handling device are disclosed. A method may comprise moving a mobile data-handling device to a first position that is within communication range of an end node of a low power wide area network. The mobile data-handling device may receive a data packet from the end node and may move to a second position at which the mobile data-handling device connects to a data-receiving device. The mobile data-handling device may transmit, via the data-receiving device, the data packet to a computing system for further processing.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2017Date of Patent: August 13, 2019Assignee: Comcast Cable Communications, LLCInventors: Ross Gilson, William Carroll VerSteeg

Patent number: 10325079Abstract: A node, of a network of nodes with access to a distributed ledger, receives a request to verify the user has consented to a current version of terms (i.e., current terms) associated with a program. The node obtains, using the distributed ledger, historical consent data indicating a version of the terms to which the user has previously provided consent. The node performs a first verification procedure to determine the user has not consented to the current terms, provides an indication to a user device that the user has not consented to the current terms, and receives, from the user device, a message indicating an acceptance of the current terms. The node performs additional verification procedures to determine that the user is who consented to the current terms and updates the distributed ledger to include a record indicating that the user consented to the current terms.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2018Date of Patent: June 18, 2019Assignee: Capital One Services, LLCInventors: Adam Vukich, Abdelkadar M'Hamed Benkreira, Mykhaylo Bulgakov, Joshua Edwards, William Carroll

Patent number: 10284722Abstract: A system for contact management a server to store, for a campaign, a list of contacts and a contact plan associated with that list of contacts, for each contact, agent notes, and, for the campaign, agent assistance text. The server determines a highest priority opportunity from the list of contacts for an agent associated with the client device as a function of the contact plan, qualifications of the agent, and a current time. The server sends the highest opportunity contact to the client device. The client device receives and presents the contact from the list that was determined to be the highest priority, agent notes for that contact, and agent assistance text. The client device accepts input of results of the agent communicating with the contact and notes regarding the contact, and sends the result and the notes to the server.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2018Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Assignee: Dealer WRX, LLCInventors: William Carroll Smith, II, Matthew Brandon Smith, William Carroll Smith, III

Publication number: 20190116071Abstract: A reduced-complexity Internet of Things sensor is disclosed. An example apparatus comprises memory storing one or more sensor event messages, a radio configured to determine a sensor event, a counter configured to output incremental counter states, and a control circuitry. The control circuitry may be in communication with the memory, the radio, and counter, and the sensor. The control circuitry may be configured to determine, based on the sensor event, a select sensor event message of the one or more sensor event messages. The control circuitry may be further configured to output, via the radio signal, a packet comprising the select event message and an indication of a counter state associated with the sensor event message.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2018Publication date: April 18, 2019Inventors: William Carroll VerSteeg, Clyde Robbins, Ross Gilson

Publication number: 20180176718Abstract: Systems and methods for improved geolocation in a low power wide area network are disclosed. One example method may include receiving an instruction to determine a geolocation of an end in a low power wide area network. An instruction may be transmitted to the end node for the end node to transmit a high-energy geolocation signal at a power of about 0.5 Watt to about 1 Watt. The end node may transmit the high-energy geolocation signal and a plurality of gateways of the low power wide area network may receive the high-energy geolocation signal. A plurality of receipt times may be identified. Each receipt time may be indicative of the time at which the high-energy geolocation signal was received by the respective gateway of the plurality of gateways. Based at least in part on the plurality of receipt times, a geolocation of the end node may be determined.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2017Publication date: June 21, 2018Inventor: William Carroll VerSteeg
