  • Patent number: 4622692
Abstract: Electronic circuitry as described which enhances the intelligibility of a speech signal corrupted by low-frequency noise while tending to retain frequency components of the signal characteristic of natural-sounding speech. The circuitry includes a broad band channel which passes the speech signal with little spectral distortion. A high-pass channel produces a high-pass signal corresponding to high-frequency components of the speech signal, components which in themselves provide the human ear with considerable information for discernment of different sounds. An operational amplifier in a summing configuration combines the broadband and high-pass signals to produce a processed speech signal with enhanced intelligibility.

  • Patent number: 4506169
Abstract: An electronic device for generating a signal indicative of the peak magnitude of an alternating voltage signal is described. The device includes a voltage-to-current converter that generates a current signal comprising a quiescent current and an alternating current signal which varies directly with the alternating voltage signal. A current sink absorbs the current signal up to a controllable maximum current level. A charge current is generated when the current signal exceeds the maximum current level, and is delivered to a capacitor. Feedback circuitry varies the maximum current level of the current sink directly with the resulting capacitor voltage. The capacitor voltage is consequently indicative of the peak magnitude of the alternating voltage signal. A discharge current is applied to the capacitor so that the capacitor voltage can decrease in response to a decrease in the peak magnitude of the alternating voltage signal.

  • Patent number: 4480745
Abstract: A modular display rack system for displaying consumer articles includes a plurality of interlocked component units. Each component unit has a planar base and upstanding members at the perimeter of the base for receiving and holding containers of consumer articles. The upstanding members include means for interlocking adjacent component units of the system side to side.

  • Patent number: 4368804
Abstract: A check out lane is defined along one side by a stationary shelf display and a movable shelf display. The movable display is pivotable from a position parallel to a lane to a position blocking the lane and is then reciprocal along the lane in a direction away from the stationary display so that it does not block access to shelves on the stationary display.

  • Patent number: 4253576
Abstract: A belt fixture comprising a rack having a plurality of segments. Each segment includes a plurality of horizontally extending spokes thereon. Each segment further includes color indicia thereon, with the color of each segment being different from the colors of the other segments. Belts are suspended by hang tags, which are releasably placed on the spokes. The hang tags have the same color as the color applied to its associated segment. The colors are used to segregate belts on the rack by style. The invention further encompasses the method of displaying belts on the rack.

  • Patent number: 4115876
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a self-contained recirculating toilet system which includes a toilet bowl having a built-in flush pump and a waste-discharge macerator pump with the discharge of the macerator pump being connected to a holding tank unit for delivering raw waste into a raw-waste compartment thereof. The raw waste is periodically pumped from the raw-waste compartment to a combined sterilization and flocculation cell unit after which the treated liquid is returned to the holding-tank unit and after solids float over weir by virtue of gaseous suspension from the treatment in the cells and aided by the outward flow through a discharge slit the remaining clarified and sterilized liquid is directed into a flush-water compartment of the holding-tank unit for use in the next flushing of the toilet. The system provides for repeated use of the same water for multiple toilet flushing.

  • Patent number: 4051330
Abstract: A hearing aid having a two port microphone for adjustable directivity. The microphone front port is connected to a front port in the casing by a soft resilient rubber tube. The microphone rear port is connected by another soft resilient rubber tube to an outlet in the top of the casing, which outlet is covered by a slider. The slider has a channel communicating with the outlet and having front and rear openings separated by a divider wall. Depending on the position of the slider, the outlet connects with either the front or rear channel opening, controlling the directivity of the aid. The microphone is supported by the rubber tubes, which isolate it from the remainder of the aid.
