    Abstract: Novel polymers are prepared from at least one cyanoacetamide monomer having the formula: ##STR1## where R.sub.1 is --CH.sub.3, --(CH.sub.2).sub.m CH.sub.3 or --H; R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently are --H, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkyl or aryl; R.sub.4 is --CH.sub.3, --(CH.sub.2).sub.n CH.sub.3 or --H; m is 1 to 10; n is 1 to 10; and x is 1 to 20.These polymers can be readily reacted by a carbon-Michael addition reaction with carbon-Michael acceptors, such as polyfunctional acrylates, methacrylates, fumarates, maleates and aopates to form crosslinked polymer compositions.

    Abstract: This invention relates to mercaptoalkyl acetoacetates and a process for preparing mercaptoalkyl acetoacetates. The process embraces the reaction of TKD (a diketene-acetone adduct) with hydroxy-functional mercaptans. Preferred is the reaction of TKD with 2-mercaptoethanol to yield mercaptoethyl acetoacetate. Mercaptoethyl acetoacetate is an effective chain transfer agent in free radical polymerization reactions with the benefit of introducing reactive acetoacetate functionally into the formed polymer.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to a photosensitive polymer composition capable of being electrophoretically depositable as an adherent, uniform photosensitive film on a conductive surface. The photosensitive polymer composition useful for electrodeposition is formed from an aqueous solution or emulsion of at least one polymer having charged carrier groups, a photoinitiator and a source of unsaturation for crosslinking the resulting film upon exposure to actinic radiation. The photosensitive film formed from the photosensitive polymer composition is aqueous developable and resistant to strong inorganic acids and strong bases. The photosensitive polymer composition is useful in the preparation of printed circuit boards, lithographic printing plates, cathode ray tubes, as well as in chemical milling, solder resist and planarizing layer applications.

    Abstract: The present invention is concerned with, as a hydrocurable composition, a mixture of an oxazolidine-functional polymer and a compound of a monomeric or polymeric character having a plurality of acryloxy groups. The first-mentioned polymer contains a plurality of pendant groups containing 2,2,-dialkyl oxazolidine groups. The mixture of these two components can be stored under anhydrous conditions in a closed container without co-reaction so that a one-pot or one-package composition can be made up with many conventional ingredients of coating compositions other than aqueous components and stored without gelling until the time for application when the composition may be applied at ambient temperature and humidity whereupon reaction between the main two components mentioned above occurs in the film deposited and the film set up.
