  • Patent number: 5228764
Abstract: A household refrigerator shelf assembly includes an unitary support structure having a rear and spaced apart side walls with a horizontally oriented channel extending around the periphery of the structure. A high tempered, high strength sheet is mounted in the channel with adhesive positioned between the sheet and the support structure. The side walls extend along only the rear portion of sides of the glass sheet and bosses are formed in the channel to assure room for an effective amount of adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4821399
Abstract: A method of assembling a refrigerator having a fresh food compartment and a freezer compartment separated by a mullion partition, the refrigerator having an outer metal casing with side walls, an inner liner and foamed-in-place thermal insulation between the metal casing and liner wherein the insulation has a void cavity adjacent the mullion partition. The metal casing is formed to have a vertical front face perpendicular to the side walls and a reinforcing nut strip is placed in the front face. The front face and nut strip aligned screw receiving apertures. A nozzle is inserted through the aligned apertures into the insulation void cavity and foamable hot melt material is forced through the nozzle into the insulation void cavity to fill the cavity. The nozzle is then withdrawn from the aligned apertures and a fastener is secured through the aligned apertures.

  • Patent number: 4497183
Abstract: A unitary refrigerator compressor and auxiliary condenser assembly adapted to be installed in the machinery compartment of a domestic refrigerator. The assembly includes a serpentine portion of the auxiliary condenser having an inlet and outlet end connected to the compressor, and a container supported on the serpentine portion for providing evaporation of water collected in the container. The serpentine portion of the condenser and container are in intimate heat exchange contact by virtue of adhesive bonding between the two components, and are resiliently supported on the base member so as to vibrate in unison with said compressor.

  • Patent number: 4359812
Abstract: A method for making a joint between a small diameter metal tube and a large diameter metal tube by coating the outside of the small diameter tube with an adhesive and inserting it through a hollow cylindrical sleeve made of metal having the same or greater thermal coefficient of expansion as a small diameter tube such that it extends beyond the ends of the hollow sleeve. An area of the hollow sleeve is deformed circumferentially to displace the adhesive in the deformed area and make metal-to-metal contact between the sleeve and the small diameter tube. A portion of the sleeve is coated with adhesive and one of the sleeve or large diameter tube is positioned around the other with said one having a thermal coefficient of expansion the same or greater than the other and then deforming an area of said one of the sleeve or large diameter tube circumferentially to displace the adhesive in the deformed area and make metal-to-metal contact between the large diameter tube and the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 3937641
Abstract: The method of joining aluminum tubing wherein a heat curable adhesive in tape form is helically wound on the end portion of one tube prior to its being telescoped with the heated end of a second tube.
