Patent number: 5574917Abstract: A method of communication in a computer system is provided for transferring information between multiple, concurrently operating programs, each of which may have a respective window display. The user communicates with each of the application programs through the window display as well as through an input device, such as a mouse or keyboard. A list of information codes is registered with a dispatcher program for each of the application programs which requires data. One or more of the application programs generate templates which include data and a corresponding information code. The generated templates are transmitted to the dispatcher program. The dispatcher program then compares the information code in the received template to the registered list of information codes to find any matches and thereby identify the one or more application programs which have registered to receive the information in the received template.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 1995Date of Patent: November 12, 1996Assignee: Landmark Graphics CorporationInventors: William E. Good, Harold A. Hildebrand, Cedric V. Snyder, Jr., Joseph L. Stiles, Kathleen M. Whitfield, Marie S. Jansen

Patent number: 4802735Abstract: A light valve projector of the Schlieren dark field type is provided with an improved input bar plate configuration which achieves greater light efficiencies. The improved input bar plate has orthogonally related rows and columns of slots in which the row slots are spaced between the column slots. Alternating rows of lenslets of a first array divide columns of lenslets of a second array. Light filtering is provided such that one color passes through the row slots and another color passes through the column slots. The output bar plate has a configuration which is complementary to the input bar plate.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1986Date of Patent: February 7, 1989Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Thomas T. True, William E. Good

Patent number: 4498101Abstract: A light valve projection system is disclosed in which information is impressed on a light modulating fluid overlying a disk wherein incident light is modulated by the information and projected onto a viewing surface. The fluid layer includes a raster area within which the information is written by the deposition of electric charge along scanning lines so as to form orthogonally related diffraction gratings which are parallel to a pair of coordinate axes in the plane of the disk. The diffraction gratings are composed of one set of gratings parallel to the scanning lines which contain green color information, and two sets of diffraction gratings orthogonal to the scanning lines containing red and blue color information. Improved green channel vertical resolution is obtained by axis dwell modulation of the scanning lines to better confine the detail modulation to the raster line axis.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1982Date of Patent: February 5, 1985Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Thomas T. True, William E. Good, William C. Bates

Patent number: 4305099Abstract: A light collection system for projectors, such as light valve projectors, has a compound reflector associated with an arc lamp. The compound reflector includes an ellipsoidal reflector positioned to collect a portion of the light from the arc lamp and reflect a direct image of the light in a beam to an image forming plane of the projector and a spherical reflector positioned to collect another portion of the light from the arc lamp and reflect it back through the gap of the arc lamp to the ellipsoidal reflector to be reflected as a secondary image of the light from the lamp in the beam. The ellipsoidal and spherical reflectors are formed as full, uninterrupted surfaces of revolution. To provide uniform light distribution, the beam is directed through a pair of spaced lens plates, each having corresponding arrays, in rows and columns, of rectangular lenticules.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1980Date of Patent: December 8, 1981Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Thomas T. Patent number: RE29012Abstract: A tool for cold pressure welding workpieces such as coaxial cables together. The tool has a compact arrangement so that it may be hand held and operated. A hydraulic pump and motor are incorporated for providing a force amplification which lends to the compactness and light weight of the assembly. The hydraulic motor operates pairs of dies which dies first grip the ends of the workpieces to be welded and then force these ends into engagement to achieve a cold pressure weld. A pressure relief valve is interposed in the hydraulic circuit for limiting the force applied to the dies. The dies are held in pivotally supported parts of the tool so that the tool may be conveniently opened for inspection, replacement or cleaning of the dies.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 1975Date of Patent: October 26, 1976Assignee: Kelsey-Hayes CompanyInventors: William E.
