  • Patent number: 7418858
Abstract: A method and system for directly measuring the compression of a ripple spring (23) in a dynamoelectric machine through a corresponding wedge (27). A compression-assessment tool (3) is provided that includes a carriage (32) for supporting a proximity sensor (34). The carriage (32) enables the proximity sensor (34) to be passed over the length of the ripple spring (23), which produces an output signal that is representative of the compression of the ripple spring (23).

  • Publication number: 20080050309
Abstract: A pharmaceutical, wherein the formulation is a conjugate of a saccharide with one or a plurality of isotopic boron-10 atoms or gadolinium, and having a utility in the binary form of low energy neutron therapy (i.e. boron neutron capture therapy). Further, that the therapy has an indicated use for the selective targeting and killing of oxygenated and hypoxic cells in tumors, and that the pharmaceutical is preferentially taken up by cancer cells. The inclusion of any of a family of saccharides, its derivatives or analogues, including sulfur linkage saccharides as a delivery carrier for boron-10 atoms or the rare element gadolinium is a strategy to take advantage of the hallmark of cancer cells, that being an increased requisite for glucose to sustain a rate of uncontrollable cell division and proliferation. A cancer cell facilitates an increase in availability of molecular glucose by overexpression of glucose transporter proteins on membrane surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20070129854
Abstract: Systems and methods for communication using a plurality of data link standards through a common operator interface are disclosed. In one embodiment, the system includes components configured to select and establish communication with an air traffic control center using one of a plurality of data link standards. The system further includes components configured to format at least one downlink page to only allow appropriate data inputs based on one or more functionalities of the data link standard, and encode one or more entered data inputs based on the selected data link standard and transmit the inputs to the air traffic control center. In a particular embodiment, the system further includes a components configured to receive and display each of the decoded uplink data transmission in a text message on a corresponding uplink display page according to one or more message text conventions of the selected data link standard.

  • Publication number: 20060057287
Abstract: A method for forming within a reactor having a work zone of at least one cubic meter, composite articles particularly ceramic composites articles, for high temperature applications. The invention provides composite articles formed from the deposition on hot surfaces of a chemical vapor having entrained solid particles. A composite material is produced comprising a chemical vapor deposition matrix with the solid particles dispersed within the matrix. Applicants have designed reactors with work zones much larger than prior art CVC reactors greatly improving production efficiency. In a preferred embodiment the work zone volume is about 3.37 cubic meters. By carefully controlling the reactor gas flows and pressure within a large work zone, as well as the number of solid particles per flow rate of reactor gas, Applicants are able to efficiently produce composites with substantially improved quality as compared with CVD produced articles and as compared with articles produced with prior art CVC processes.

  • Publication number: 20030074590
Abstract: A method, logic and computer system for managing electrical power consumed by a computer system and controlling access to functionality the computer system. A powersave mode is started after a first predetermined activity timeout duration has elapsed during which no user activity is detected, the powersave mode reducing an amount of electrical power consumed by a component of the computer system. A lock mode is started after a second predetermined activity timeout duration has elapsed during which no user activity is detected, following entry into the lock mode, the lock mode restricting use of the computer system until a specified security input is input into the computer system. Before the second predetermined activity timeout duration has elapsed, a user action other than the specified security input reactivates the computer system for use from the powersave mode.
