  • Publication number: 20110197228
Abstract: A system of distributing electronic content includes a satellite and a network operations center uplinking electronic content to the satellite. The electronic content may contain advertising and various other information including television, movies, and music. An over-the-air broadcast center receives the electronic content from the satellite and generates over-the-air electronic content. A user device is used to receive the over-the-air electronic content. The user device may filter the electronic content broadcast by the over-the-air broadcast center and store various information in a memory cache therein. When the user desires, the information in the memory cache may be used by the user at his convenience.

  • Patent number: 7167840
Abstract: A system for distributing electronic content packages has a content provider that has electronic content and a broadcast center. The broadcast center is coupled to the content provider for receiving the electronic content and transmitting a plurality of the electronic to the system users. A user appliance has a filter therein. The appliance is coupled to the broadcast center for receiving the electronic content. The filter filters the plurality of electronic content with predetermined filter terms and accepts one of the plurality of electronic content to form a selected content subset as a function of the filter terms. This process is repeated for the plurality of electronic content.

  • Patent number: 6340947
Abstract: A method and system for determining the position of an object, such as an aircraft, utilizes two-way ranging with a polystatic satellite configuration and ground radar. A ground transceiver at a first known location provides a bidirectional communication path between the ground transceiver and the object wherein the ground transceiver transmits a first ranging signal to the object and the object transmits a second ranging signal to the ground transceiver in response to the first ranging signal. A first communication transceiver at a second known location provides a first unidirectional communication path between the first communication transceiver and the object wherein the first communication transceiver performs one of transmitting a third ranging signal to the object and receiving a third ranging signal from the object in response to the first ranging signal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 22, 2000
Date of Patent: January 22, 2002
    Assignee: Hughes Electronics Corporation
Inventors: Donald C. D. Chang, Kar W. Yung, John I. Novak, III, William Goliff
