  • Patent number: 7160076
Abstract: A work machine has a lift arm assembly pivotably coupled to a frame assembly at a forward frame pivot. The lift arm assembly includes a pair of spaced-apart lift arms and an extensible lift cylinder. The lift cylinder is pivotably coupled to the lift arms at a lift cylinder connection pivot. The lift cylinder is pivotably coupled to the frame assembly such that extension of the lift cylinder moves the lift arms with respect to the frame assembly about the frame pivot. A boom stop is pivotably coupled to the lift cylinder connection pivot. The boom stop is movable from an inoperable position with a remote end adjacent the lift arms to an operable position wherein the boom stop engages the frame assembly and prevents lowering movement of the lift arms with respect to the frame assembly. The lift arm assembly also can include a latch assembly coupled to one of the lift arms for holding the boom stop in the inoperable position.

  • Patent number: 6902024
Abstract: A self-propelled material handler has a pivotally mounted boom on a frame, and a cab that is positioned adjacent the side of the boom. The cab has an operator's entrance and exit opening on a side of the cab, that is positioned to permit an operator to enter and exit the cab and sit on a seat in the cab. A lateral restraint bar is mounted between the seat and the cab opening, and is movable to a working position where it obstructs the cab opening so that portions of the operator cannot be moved outwardly through the cab side opening from the interior, and which pivots to a raised position to permit an operator to pass through the cab opening. When the restraint bar moves away from its working position, a signal is provided to disable machine controls.

  • Publication number: 20030015362
Abstract: A dividing wall between an engine compartment and an operator's compartment of an excavator is provided with an opening through which lines or tubes, such as hydraulic lines or air conditioning lines must pass. The lines or tubes have fittings at their ends which are larger than the lines or tubes, so that the opening, which is in center portions of the wall, has to be large enough to permit passage of the fittings through the wall. The tubes, which are smaller, thus leave portions of the opening uncovered when they are in place. The opening has a number of recesses along one edge that are of size to receive first portions of grommets that in turn surround the tubes. A seal plate that has mating recesses that receive other portions of the grommets extending into the opening is placed to cover the opening, support the grommets, and seal the opening to reduce the passage of heat, noise and the like through the wall when in place.

  • Patent number: 6431299
Abstract: An excavator has an operator's cab with an engine compartment at the rear which has a laterally facing opening for receiving cooling air that is drawn by an engine fan through a radiator. A duct is provided for transmitting cooling air from an inlet opening in the duct remote from the engine compartment opening. The engine compartment opening faces a wall of the duct so that the sound waves from the engine compartment must be deflected at an angle before reaching the inlet air opening. The duct causes the inlet air to turn substantially 90° as it flows from the air inlet opening in order to pass through the radiator at the engine compartment opening.
