  • Publication number: 20030068097
Abstract: A method of determining a mean for a data set of data element values. A form of a probability density function statistical distribution is selected for each data element of the data set, based on the value of that data element. Then a mean of the probability density function of each data element is estimated, by, e.g., a digital or analog processing technique. The estimated mean of each data element's probability density function is then designated as the mean for that data element. In a method of normalizing a data set of data element values based on estimated probability density function means of the data set, each data element value in the data set is processed based on the estimated mean of the probability density function of that data element to normalize each data element value, producing a normalized data set.

  • Patent number: 5596872
Abstract: A fluid power transmission for driving automotive accessories at a constant speed with a variable speed input includes a pump driven by a motor vehicle engine in communication with a hydraulic motor which drives the motor vehicle accessories. A working fluid is disposed within a conduit system which communicates the pump driving force with the hydraulic motor. A flow control valve in the return line from the hydraulic motor to the pump provides a constant input flow rate to the pump independent on motor vehicle engine speed and the accessory load on the hydraulic motor to provide a constant output speed at a necessary pressure for the pump to maintain the accessories at a predetermined optimal rotational speed.

  • Patent number: 4541513
Abstract: A fluid power transmission adapted for combination with an engine to drive auxiliary equipment thereto including a rotor arrangement for direct driving connection to the engine crankshaft and a housing assembly rotatably supported on the rotor arrangement and forming therewith a fluid drive circuit to be in driven relation therewith. A centrifugally-actuated valve is radially disposed in the fluid circuit in the housing assembly to remain closed at rotational speeds of the housing assembly less than a predetermined optimum speed and to yield in response to centrifugal forces created upon rotation of the housing assembly at greater speeds for fluid flow in the fluid circuit to create slippage of the housing assembly about the rotor arrangement to limit increases in the rotational speed of the housing assembly over the optimum speed. The housing assembly includes a pulley wheel by which the auxiliary units are driven generally constantly at the optimum speed for maximum efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4183155
Abstract: An insole made up of an upper wall and a lower wall of soft, flexible thin material sealed together around a marginal edge to form an envelope, a relatively rigid member in said envelope smaller than the area between the edges of the envelope, the upper wall being of greater area than the lower wall providing a slack portion so that the upper wall will slide on the relatively rigid member causing a massaging action to the feet.
