  • Patent number: 6550178
Abstract: A spear assembly for fishing underwater and inside undersea structures includes an elongated hollow shaft filled with rigid plastic foam material to inhibit entry of water and to rigidify the shaft and has a rear portion and a forward portion, which may include a metallic rod to add weight and strength to the punch delivered by the spear, and a rear portion rigidly connected to the forward portion, a repleacable sharp spear tip for piercing the fish is located at a proximal end of the forward portion, an elastic band for propelling the shaft when the band is released is carried on a movable mechanical means to enable a diver to quickly adjust the tension power of the band by moving it close to the spear tip while keeping the shooting hand indexed in the same release position near the forward portion of the spear. The proximity of the elastic band and the spear tip enables the diver to maneuver the forward portion inside and around undersea structures to spear the nearby fish.

  • Publication number: 20020039070
Abstract: An alerting and/or notification system for operator(s) of a vehicle about conditions that affect the operation of the vehicle. The system collects information from one or more hazard warning systems, groups the warnings into different alert categories, and resolves conflicts between two or more hazard warnings within the same alert category to set a priority level. The prioritized alerts are presented to the operator, and associated detailed information also made available, in the form of graphical and/or textual messages on a display. Using two- or three-dimensional surround sound techniques, directional verbal and tonal aural cues also inform the operator(s) about the presence of threats and/or conditions. Visual displays and/or directional aural commands may be issued to dictate an evasive maneuver direction, if desired.

  • Patent number: 6176402
Abstract: An ankle holster system, for carrying a concealed handgun includes a vertical support member that engages footwear worn by a user to provide vertical support for a holster and handgun. Cooperating releasable fasteners are mounted on the holster and the support member for securing the holster to the support member. A retainer strap wraps around the leg and the holster to secure the holster against rotative movement and attaches to the holster by another pair of cooperating releasable fasteners. The support member may include a strap to secure it to the leg of a user in the case of a heavy gun and holster that could cause outward bowing of the support member. The support member includes a planar metal element that can be bent in its plane and perpendicular to its plane but is rigid in the vertical direction to minimize vertical movement of the holster but allow for flexing necessary at the ankle and foot. The system includes a support member for use with boots and a longer support member for use with shoes.

  • Patent number: 6010045
Abstract: An adjustable carrier for a tool, weapon, or other holsterable object to be attached to any support, including a belt or body harness. The adjustment capability permits the carrier to be clamped in a rigid tilted position as chosen by the wearer of the harness. The adjustment is accomplished by having a pair of vertical spaced and substantially parallel slots and a lower horizontal slot with vertical saw teeth along all shoulders forming the latter slot. Tightenable connectors fit through the vertical slots and another tightenable connector carrying a saw tooth washer positively engages complemental portions of the saw teeth along the shoulders. One or more other spaced openings or slots have a tightenable bolt disposed to attach to threaded connectors. The openings provide for both vertical and/or horizontal adjustments, including tilt or cant, for adjusting the position of the carrier with respect to the holsterable object to suit the user.

  • Patent number: 5944239
Abstract: An holster includes a biasing member that forces a handgun forwardly in a holster such that the handgun engages one or more molded ledges in the inner cavity of the holster and allows withdrawal only by way of a specific series of steps. The biasing member includes an engaging member that carries an axle-mounted roller and forces the roller against the handgun at a predetermined position. A spring may be mounted between the engaging member and a support body to which the engaging member is pivotably mounted. Positive locking devices are provided for the engaging member in some of the embodiments with some being releasable by a finger of a wearer or by movement of the handgun in a predetermined direction.

At least one of the sidewalls is constructed of flexible interior, exterior, and core layers wherein the core layer is made of resiliently deformable material that will not stretch. An adjacent member mounted between the rear spine members carries a movable engaging element that contacts a handgun and forces it forwardly against the front of the holster. An upper adjustment screw mounted between the rear spine members is used to pull the spine members and sidewalls together to adjust the draw of the handgun. A lower adjustment screw mounted between the rear spine members is used to pull the rear spine members and sidewalls together to narrow the lower opening of the holster for different size guns.

  • Patent number: 5816300
Abstract: A convertible woodworking jig comprising multiple components suited to making specialty woodcuts necessary for the manufacture of rails and stiles of cabinet door frames from standard milled wood stock. The jig has a base having a planar work surface, a first fence having a first straight edge, and a second fence with a second straight edge, between which edges a first cam assembly is medially positioned. The cam body is rotatably positionable for wedging a freely-positionable pressure block tight against a work piece, which is selectively positioned against one of either the first straight edge or the second straight edge. The work piece being so secured, a biscuit slot may be cut into the mitered end by use of a guide assembly disposed at an operative end of the second fence, which assembly closely guides a hand-held, power cutting tool at a predetermined angle formed relative to the plane of said second straight edge.
