  • Publication number: 20100274062
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of dissolving a gaseous hydrocarbon into a liquid hydrocarbon to re-circulate gaseous components, which have separated from the liquid fuel mixture, back into the liquid fuel mixture, as well as, a method for making batch or continuous process amounts of mixed hydrocarbon fuels. The mixed hydrocarbon fuel is produced by introducing a volume of a liquid hydrocarbon into a vessel, and introducing a volume of a gaseous hydrocarbon into the vessel by bubbling the gaseous hydrocarbon into the liquid hydrocarbon at a gravitational low point of the vessel such that the bubbled gaseous hydrocarbon is dissolved into the liquid hydrocarbon to produce a liquid fuel solution. The vessel may be a mixing tank from which the liquid fuel is pumped into a vehicle fuel tank, or the vessel may be the vehicle fuel tank.

  • Patent number: 4889638
Abstract: A method of, and apparatus for, separating phases in a polyphase system is described and particularly in separating oil from produced water by the contact of gas bubbles and oil droplets by a dispersed gas flotation technique. A polyphase system is divided into at least two portions. The pressure of one portion is reduced to form bubbles of a gas, and the two portions are then recombined whereby the bubbles in the mixture enhances flotation, and hence separation of the dispensed phase, e.g. oil, from the continuous phase, e.g. water. The invention has particular application in the oil industry and in other fields where efficient separation is required.

  • Patent number: 4103788
Abstract: Apparatus for unloading from the bottom of a silo having a conventional horizontal floor with a central opening characterized by apparatus extending from the pit radially outwardly for removal of the material and at least one radial sweep auger having its interior end within the pit with its outer adapted for powered rotational movement, the auger having a tapered central shaft that is larger adjacent its exterior end than adjacent its interior end such that the flights of auger blade may be uniformly spaced and pick up material along its full length, since each will handle progressively greater quantities of material near the center, for uniform withdrawal from storage. Also disclosed are the details of specific drive means, track clearing means and other equipment in a preferred embodiment.

  • Patent number: 4071416
Abstract: A method of providing a hard film on stainless steel comprising treating the stainless steel in an aqueous solution of chromic and sulfuric acids to provide a film and then treating the metal containing the film in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble silicate for a period of time sufficient to harden the film.

  • Patent number: 3992986
Abstract: Method and apparatus of refuse collection in a city for disposal in a landfill characterized by the steps of sending portable collecting and baling units on routes throughout the city for collecting refuse and simultaneously baling the refuse into large bales, then periodically discharging the bales along the route. A transport unit which is capable of carrying several bales is then notified to pick up the bales and transport them to a landfill. The baling unit has a hopper collector for manually dumping the refuse, a ram for compressing the refuse within a compaction chute into a bale once the refuse fills the hopper collector. After the bale achieves a selected size, wires previously threaded through guides are tied and the bale ejected. An attached conveyor extracts the bale and carries one or two bales temporarily until at a satisfactory place along the route they are unloaded for later pickup by the transport unit.
