  • Patent number: 10179676
Abstract: A dispenser with self-closing cap allows opening of said cap, dispensing of contents from said dispenser and closing of said cap using only one hand. In the first embodiment, said dispenser comprises a cap, tube, base and elastic cord internally disposed between said cap and said base. In a second embodiment said dispenser incorporates a D-ring attachment into the dispenser of the first embodiment. Multiple dispensers of the first embodiment can be transported and stored on one's person in a caddy with integral matching boreholes to receive said dispensers. Multiple dispensers of the second embodiment can be grouped on a split ring much as keys on a keyring. In a third embodiment the cap of said dispenser incorporates an O-ring which guards the contents of said container against moisture or allows the storage and dispensing of gels, creams or other viscous fluids.

  • Publication number: 20060119917
Abstract: Transmission and reflection type holograms may be formed utilizing a novel polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) material and its unique switching characteristics to form optical elements. Applications for these switchable holograms include communications switches and switchable transmission, and reflection red, green, and blue lenses. The PDLC material of the present invention offers all of the features of holographic photopolymers with the added advantage that the hologram can be switched on and off with the application of an electric field. The material is a mixture of a polymerizable monomer and liquid crystal, along with other ingredients, including a photoinitiator dye. Upon irradiation, the liquid crystal separates as a distinct phase of nanometer-size droplets aligned in periodic channels forming the hologram. The material is called a holographic polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (H-PDLC).

  • Patent number: 5685334
Abstract: A fuel additive system is disclosed which comprises a sensing device for determining the flow rate of fuel into the system and for generating a signal in dependence upon the fuel flow rate, a control system for conditioning the signal to produce a proportional speed of a variable speed motor, a metering pump driven by the motor for dispensing an additive into the fuel flow at a rate proportionate to the speed of the motor, and a valving device for controlling the rate of increase in the fuel flow rate to permit the control system and the metering pump to respond to the variations within an effective response time to substantially maintain a predetermined ratio between the fuel flow rate and the additive dispensing rate.
