  • Patent number: 11529214
Abstract: This disclosure relates to various systems and methods related to preventative laser-based treatment of a dental tissue; for example, to prevent a patient from forming cavities. In some instances, a laser-based treatment system can generate a laser beam pulse with a fluence profile at a treatment site that results in either an increase in acid resistance of the tissue or removal of carbonate from the tissue, without melting or ablating the tissue. In some instances, the laser-based treatment system can direct the laser beam to various locations within a treatment site according to a temporal and/or spatial pattern, that results in either an increase in acid resistance of the tissue or removal of carbonate from the tissue, without melting or ablating the tissue. Many other systems and techniques for preventative and other laser-based treatment are also described.

  • Publication number: 20220277554
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of training an image analysis model. The image analysis model comprises a coupling layer that determines an output vector of discrete values from an input vector of discrete values. First, a machine learnable submodel of the coupling layer is trained to predict a second input part of the coupling layer from a first input part of the coupling layer. Next, the image analysis model is trained. This involves applying the coupling layer by applying the machine learnable submodel to the first input part to obtain a prediction of the second input part; and determining a second output part by applying an invertible mapping to the second input part defined by the prediction of the second input part. The mapping maps a predicted value of an element of the second input part to a fixed value independent from the predicted value.

  • Publication number: 20220277559
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of training an image analysis model. A coupling layer determines an output vector of integer values from an input vector of integer values. The coupling layer is applied by dividing the input vector into non-overlapping first and second input parts; applying a machine learnable submodel of the coupling layer to the first input part to obtain a submodel output of the machine learnable submodel; sampling a transformation vector from a discrete probability distribution, wherein the discrete probability distribution is parameterized based on the submodel output; determining a second output part based on the second input part and the transformation vector; and combining the first input part and the second output part to obtain the output vector. During backpropagation, a gradient of the sampling of the transformation vector is estimated.

  • Publication number: 20220230054
Abstract: A method for operating a trainable module. At least one input variable value is supplied to variations of the trainable module, the variations differing so much from each other, that they may not be converted into each other in a congruent manner, using progressive learning. A measure of the uncertainty of the output variable values is ascertained from the difference of the output variable values, into which the variations translate, in each instance, the input variable value. The uncertainty is compared to a distribution of uncertainties, which is ascertained for input variable learning values used during training of the trainable module and/or for further input variable test values, to which relationships learned during the training of the trainable module are applicable. The extent to which the relationships learned during the training of the trainable module are applicable to the input variable value, is evaluated from the result of the comparison.

Abstract: A mount for adjusting a mounting plane is disclosed. The mount comprises a first adjustable device, a second adjustable device and a third adjustable device. A first intersection between the first adjustable device and the second adjustable device forming a first principal axis and a second intersection between the second adjustable device and the third adjustable device forming a second principal axis substantially perpendicular to the first principal axis. The first adjustable device, second adjustable device and third adjustable device rigidly coupled together. The first adjustable device is configurable to be adjusted in a first translational degree of freedom, and substantially constrain the first adjustable device in remaining translational degrees of freedom, wherein adjustment of the first adjustable device in the first translational degree of freedom causes a rotation of the mounting plane about the second principal axis.

  • Publication number: 20220147869
Abstract: A method for training a trainable module. A plurality of modifications of the trainable module, which differ from one another enough that they are not congruently merged into one another with progressive learning, are each pretrained using a subset of the learning data sets. Learning input variable values of a learning data set are supplied to all modifications as input variables; from the deviation of the output variable values, into which the modifications each convert the learning input variable values, from one another, a measure of the uncertainty of these output variable values is ascertained and associated with the learning data set as its uncertainty. Based on the uncertainty, an assessment of the learning data set is ascertained, which is a measure of the extent to which the association of the learning output variable values with the learning input variable values in the learning data set is accurate.

  • Publication number: 20220101197
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of estimating a reliability of control data for a computer-controlled system interacting with an environment. The control data is inferred from a model input by a machine learnable control model which is trained on a training dataset. The model input comprises at least one direction vector which is extracted from sensor data and which is associated with a component of the computer-controlled system or an object in the environment. The reliability is estimated using a generative model that is trained to generate synthetic model inputs representative of the training dataset, by applying an inverse of the generative model to the model input to determine a likelihood of the model input being generated according to the generative model. The generative model comprises a coupling layer comprising a circle transformation and one or more of an unconditional rotation and a conditional rotation.

  • Publication number: 20220101050
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of training an image generation model. The image generation model comprises an argmax transformation configured to compute a discrete index feature indicating an index of a feature of the continuous feature vector with an extreme value. The image generation model is trained using a log-likelihood optimization. This involves obtaining a value of the index feature for the training image, sampling values of the continuous feature vector given the value of the index feature according to a stochastic inverse transformation of the argmax transformation, and determining a likelihood contribution of the argmax transformation for the log-likelihood based on a probability that the stochastic inverse transformation generates the values of the continuous feature vector given the value of the index feature.
