  • Publication number: 20100235366
Abstract: A method and system of file aggregation is provided herein. Input is received in the form of a user specific temporal range, and is compared to a value within a temporal metadata field of a data file to determine an appropriate data set within which to compile the data file for presentation. In this way, data files within a particular data set may be selectively presented to a user. For example, if a user begins taking photos at 11 p.m. and continues until 2 a.m. the next day, the user may specify the photos taken between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. are to be compiled into a single data set for presentation, as opposed to presenting the photos in data sets corresponding to different days.

  • Publication number: 20040227931
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for detecting disturbances (changes in physical configuration) in optic communication or transmission media such as fibre-optic cables 180 has a source 110 of pulsed laser light, a circulator 150 for inputting the pulsed laser light into the fibre-optic cable and receiving backscattered radiation from the cable 180, and a detection stage 160 for detecting the amplitude of radiation backscattered from the cable 180 as a function of time, the backscattered radiation being caused by pulses of laser light input into the cable 180 at a first end. The results may be analysed and may be correlated to indicate the existence and/or location of a disturbance. A method of detecting such disturbances is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5435315
Abstract: A device for evaluating the physical fitness of an individual. The device obtains signals indicative of personal data of the individual, including cardiovascular fitness data including one of blood pressure data, heart rate data, treadmill energy expenditure data, and bicycle energy expenditure data. The device further obtains strength fitness data selected from at least one of isometric fitness data and hand strength data, flexibility fitness data, body composition data selected from at least one of weight data and percentage body fat data. The device then calculates overall fitness indices from the obtained data and outputs the indices.
