  • Publication number: 20020178088
Abstract: Purchase of items is facilitated though use of a wireless device. The wireless device connects to a server via a global communications network. The consumer's shopping list is maintained on the server and displayed on the wireless device. Using the wireless device and the shopping list, a checkout list is created by entering or scanning codes on selected items at locations proximate the selected items in a store. One or more of the locations proximate the selected items corresponds to a location that is different from a point of sale in the store, the point of sale corresponding to a location in the store where goods on the checkout list are purchased using the wireless device.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 11, 2002
    Publication date: November 28, 2002
Inventors: Leib A. Lurie, William Heckle, Angela Manning, Derek Diperna, William Jackson
  • Patent number: 4952541
Abstract: Treatment of dicyanobutene to inactivate residual dimerization catalyst facilitates hydrogenation of the product to form adiponitrile.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 1, 1989
Date of Patent: August 28, 1990
    Assignee: Monsanto Company
Inventors: William A. Heckle, Marion J. Mathews, III, P. Robert Peoples
  • Patent number: 4250001
Abstract: An improvement in the process of electrohydrodimerizing acrylonitrile to adiponitrile wherein metal-plated cathodes, which are employed in the process as a part of an electrolytic cell, are pretreated by wetting the cathodes with aqueous phosphoric acid thereby to significantly reduce fouling.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 19, 1979
Date of Patent: February 10, 1981
    Assignee: Monsanto Company
Inventors: Joseph C. Burnett, Jr., William A. Heckle
  • Patent number: 4203808
Abstract: Packages of undivided electrolytic cells for electrochemical synthesis having a plurality of metal-plated cathodes with corresponding anodes are produced by assembling and permanently fixing the electrodes in substantially parallel-planar relationship as a package and thereafter electroplating the cathodes in package form by applying an electric potential between the anodes and cathodes in an electroplating solution containing the plating metal in complex form, the anodes functioning as non-sacrificial anodes during electroplating. Such electroplating may be accomplished in the electrochemical synthesis cells and may employ the same power application means and controls as the means and controls employed in the electrochemical synthesis.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 14, 1976
Date of Patent: May 20, 1980
    Assignee: Monsanto Company
Inventors: Charles R. Campbell, William A. Heckle, Marion J. Mathews, III
  • Patent number: 4178305
Abstract: Propionitrile is subject to oxidative dehydrogenation at high temperatures in the presence of a stoichiometric excess of a metal oxide oxygen donor to produce acrylonitrile at a high rate of conversion and selectivity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 23, 1978
Date of Patent: December 11, 1979
    Assignee: Monsanto Company
Inventors: Charles R. Campbell, William A. Heckle, Marion J. Mathews
  • Patent number: 4155818
Abstract: An improvement in the process of electrohydrodimerizing acrylonitrile to adiponitrile wherein the plated electrodes, which are employed in the process as a part of an electrolytic cell, are, without removal from the cell, cleaned and replated.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 17, 1978
Date of Patent: May 22, 1979
    Assignee: Monsanto Company
Inventors: Charles R. Campbell, William A. Heckle, Marion J. Mathews
  • Patent number: 4128571
Abstract: 4-cyano-suberonitrile is continuously converted to acrylonitrile in a catalyst-free reaction at temperatures of about 700.degree.-800.degree. C.
