  • Patent number: 4505650
Abstract: A duplex compressor arrangement for shipboard application is provided with a central oil pickup to minimize the effects of trim on the sump. Additionally, the compressor crankcases are connected to the sump via return lines and equalizer lines which can act as secondary drain lines under the proper trim conditions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 5, 1983

    Assignee: Carrier Corporation
Inventors: William J. Hannett, David S. Wilson
  • Patent number: 4502084
Abstract: The occurrence of a condition indicative of an impending shutdown causes the closing of a switch which completes a circuit powering an indicator and a relay coil. The powering of the relay coil causes the closing of the associated contacts which completes a circuit for powering the relay coil independent of the initial closing of the switch so that the indicator remains powered/lit until manually disabled. The powering of the coil also results in the establishing of a summary fault signal. A timing relay is used to avoid false signals at start up.

  • Patent number: 4335580
Abstract: An engine-driven refrigeration unit includes a first heat exchanger functioning alternatively as a refrigerant condenser or as a refrigerant evaporator. When the heat exchanger is functioning as a refrigerant evaporator the heat transfer medium furnished thereto for providing a source of heat to vaporize the refrigerant is preheated by absorbing heat from a relatively warm fluid employed as the cooling medium for the engine driving the refrigeration unit.

  • Patent number: 4319459
Abstract: A refrigeration machine and a method of charging the same. The machine comprises a compressor, a condenser, an expansion device, and an evaporator connected together to form a closed loop, vapor compression refrigeration circuit. The condenser includes first and second parallel refrigerant condenser coils, and refrigerant is condensed with greater efficiency in the first condenser coil than in the second condenser coil. The refrigeration machine further comprises a first sight glass for disclosing the presence of refrigerant vapor in the refrigerant fluid discharged from the first condenser coil, and a second sight glass for disclosing the presence of refrigerant vapor in the refrigerant fluid discharged from the second condenser coil.
