  • Patent number: 8955015
Abstract: One embodiment may take the form of an apparatus for providing separate user classifications and interfaces to multiple users of a set-top box of the television system. Each user classification may be configurable to provide different interfaces, menus and available features to the users of the set-top box. Further, each user classification may include several sub-classifications to further personalize the set-top box to the various users of the system. Also, each user classification may also monitor the habits and usage of each class and store such information for use by the set-top box to suggest settings of the set-top box that the user may be interested in, such as a favorite channel list.

  • Publication number: 20120293637
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product provide 3D on screen display content derived from 2D image content utilizing the on screen display image buffer, as opposed to an on screen display 3D buffer, of a content receiver. The on screen display image buffer separates image data for one image formatted as a 2D image into data for a first image and data for a second image. Utilizing the data for the first and second image, the on screen display image buffer formats the first and second image data for an offset display on a content display device so that a user perceives the first and the second image as a 3D image forming a portion of the on screen display. The first and second image for each of the original images may have differing offsets relative to one another thereby providing the perception of differing levels of depth for each of the 3D images.

  • Publication number: 20120274861
Abstract: A media control system processes a numeric user input to identify a set of alphabetic letters. The media control system selects a plurality of media channel names based on the set of alphabetic letters. The media control system generates a first signal to drive a first display of the media channel names. The media control system processes additional user input to select one of the displayed media channel names. The media control system generates a second signal to drive a second display associated with a media channel identified by the selected one of the displayed media channel names.
