  • Patent number: 5217133
Abstract: A container is provided with a top to which is secured at least one strip. The strip or strips can be free of prestress bias or are provided with a prestress bias so that when the top is severed from the container, the strip or strips are lifted away from the top so that the strip can be grasped easily to provide a means for lifting the top away from the container. An indentation is provided in the container wall to prevent a severed container top from sinking into the contents of the container.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 26, 1992
Date of Patent: June 8, 1993
    Assignee: Wellesley Research Associates, Inc.
Inventors: William J. Timson, Paul R. Chalifoux
  • Patent number: 5209366
Abstract: A container is provided with a top to which is secured at least one strip. The strip or strips are provided with a prestress bias so that when the top is severed from the container, the strip or strips are lifted away from the top and over the container rim so that the strip can be grasped easily to provide a means for lifting the top away from the container.

  • Patent number: 5049404
Abstract: An electrostatic coating method and apparatus are provided that are capable of applying an extremely thin and virtually constant thickness coating to a substrate, and includes a coating applicator having an opening formed of dielectric material through which coating material flows for coating purposes. The coating material supplied to the applicator is pressurized to maintain a substantially constant volume of coating material at the applicator opening output and is vibrated in the vicinity of the applicator opening to provide a uniform flow of coating material to the applicator output, to stabilize the shape of the coating material at the applicator output and to preclude changes in coating material flow rate caused by electrostatic field induced coating material dryout.

  • Patent number: 4302108
Abstract: A process for detecting defects in a multiply layered light transmitting structure, comprising illuminating the surface of the structure with a beam of light at an angle of incidence to the structure at which at least a portion of the beam will be reflected, and detecting the intensity of the reflected beam to locate subsurface as well as surface anomalies in the structure.

  • Patent number: 4128667
Abstract: The velocity of a free falling coating composition stream emitted from a coating applicator is altered prior to reaching a web by streams of gas directed over air foils situated immediately adjacent said coating composition stream.

  • Patent number: 3960557
Abstract: The present invention relates to photography and, more particularly, to diffusion transfer process photographic film units which comprise a photosensitive element adapted to provide, by diffusion transfer photographic processing, selective dye image recordation of incident actinic radiation as a function of the point-to-point degree of photosensitive element exposure, which film unit includes a plurality of essential layers including a polydisperse silver halide photosensitive emulsion layer comprising a particulate dispersion of photosensitive silver iodobromide, iodochloride or iodochlorobromide crystals possessing a mean iodide concentration within the range of about 0.5 to 15 mole % and in which not in excess of about 20%, by weight, of the crystals deviate from the selected mean iodide concentration by in excess of about .+-.
