  • Patent number: 11749435
Abstract: A superconducting magnet arrangement including: an outer vacuum container (OVC) housing magnet coils; a cryogen vessel thermally linked to the magnet coils; a cold head sock accommodating a cold head, with a thermal contact provided between the cold head and the magnet coils; tubes linking the interior of the cryogen vessel with the interior of the cold head sock; and a thermosiphon circuit defined by the cryogen vessel, the tubes, and the cold head sock. Pre-cooling and removal of ice build-up may be performed using the thermosiphon circuit.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 5, 2023
    Assignee: Siemens Healthcare Limited
Inventors: William James Bickell, Simon Chorley, Zhi Qiang Long, Jun Zhao Wu
  • Patent number: 11703556
Abstract: A self-supporting flexible shield for location between a warm surface and a cold mass so as to substantially enclose the cold mass, wherein the self-supporting flexible shield comprises a shaped plastic sheet with a low emissivity coating on both of its sides.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 29, 2019
Date of Patent: July 18, 2023
    Assignee: Siemens Healthcare Limited
Inventors: William James Bickell, Simon Chorley
  • Patent number: 11387026
Abstract: An assembly having a cylindrical structure supported by a support structure having at least one support element, the support structure being cradle shaped, such that vertical and horizontal loads are taken largely as shear forces by respective interface surfaces which are substantially parallel to the direction of the respective load, and vertical loads are taken in a direction substantially tangential to the cylindrical surface of the cylindrical structure.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 21, 2018
Date of Patent: July 12, 2022
    Assignee: Siemens Healthcare Limited
Inventors: William James Bickell, Ashley Fulham, Martin Gambling, Martin Howard Hempstead, Graeme Hyson, Paul Lewis, Nicholas Mann, Michael Simpkins

  • Patent number: 10878983
Abstract: An electromagnet assembly has an outer shield coil assembly having a first end and a second end, and further has a housing having a first end wall and a second end wall spaced apart from one another by a side wall. The outer shield coil assembly and housing are centered on a common assembly axis. A first support pin extends between and couples the first end wall of the housing and the first end of the outer shield coil assembly. A second support pin extends between and couples the second end wall of the housing and the second end of the outer shield coil assembly. Hence the outer shield coil assembly is carried by the housing by the pins. The coupling of the end walls of the housing and ends of the outer shield coil assembly is configured to prevent relative radial and rotational movement between the outer shield coil assembly and the housing.
