  • Publication number: 20220215959
Abstract: A method of managing sleep therapy includes inputting characterization data associated with each of a plurality of patients into a database system stored in a memory system and inputting outcome data associated with each of the plurality of patients resulting from use of one of a plurality of interface systems in sleep therapy. The method further includes determining a management option for sleep therapy for a person via execution of the algorithm based at least in part upon an optimization of at least one outcome parameter for the person predicted by at least one model of the algorithm based at least in part upon characterization data of the person input into the database system.

  • Publication number: 20150095054
Abstract: A system for monitoring a plurality of persons in an assisted living facility includes a local system in the assisted living facility. The local system includes a plurality of sensor systems. Each of the plurality of sensor systems is adapted to monitor changes in state of at least one monitored system caused by activity or lack of activity of at least one of the plurality of persons. The plurality of sensor systems include a plurality of presence sensors adapted to determine at least the presence or the absence of each one of the plurality of persons on a bed thereof or on a wheelchair thereof. The local system further includes a local communication device in communicative connection with each of the plurality of sensor systems to receive data from each of the plurality of sensor systems. The system further includes a remote system in communication with the local communication device.

  • Publication number: 20130340500
Abstract: A method of monitoring a space to determine at least one change in state related to at least one activity includes analyzing an amount of water vapor in the air over time and relating a change in the amount of water vapor in the air over time to the at least one change in state. In a number of embodiments, the at least one change in state is related to a kitchen activity which causes a change in the amount of water vapor in the air. Changes in dew point over time may, for example, are determined. In a number of embodiments, changes in dew point over time are determined by measuring temperature and relative humidity over time and determining dew point from measured temperature and measured relative humidity. Changes in dew point over time may, for example, used to identify or distinguish the activity from a plurality of possible activities associated with the change in state.

  • Publication number: 20130081479
Abstract: A presence sensor system includes at least one resilient extending member defining an enclosed sensing volume. The sensing volume includes a fluid therein. A pressure within the sensing volume changes upon application of force to the extending member. The presence sensor system further includes a pressure sensor in fluid connection with the sensing volume, a processor system in communicative connection with the pressure sensor and a communication system in communicative connection with the processor system. In a number of embodiments, the presence sensor system is adapted to determine a pressure threshold associated with onset of presence after being placed in use.

  • Publication number: 20120056746
Abstract: A system for monitoring wellness of a person, includes a local system in the vicinity of the person. The local system includes a plurality of sensor systems. Each of the plurality of sensor systems is associated with at least one monitored system to monitor changes in state of the monitored systems caused by activity or lack of activity of the person. The local system further includes a local data communication device in communicative connection with each of the plurality of sensor system to receive data from each of the plurality of sensor systems. The system further includes a remote system in communication with the local data communication device. The remote system includes a processing system to process data from the plurality of sensor system based upon predetermined rules. The local data communication device is programmed to transmit data to the remote system. The data transmitted to the remote system includes information on state history of the monitored systems.

  • Publication number: 20030221687
Abstract: A medical therapy compliance management system manages a patient's use of a therapy device, such as a nebulizer, in which treatments are to be provided at predetermined intervals. A compliance monitor coupled to the medical therapy device determines when a medical treatment is provided to the patient. A compliance controller receives data indicative of a medical treatment and can generate a reminder to the patient of future scheduled treatments. The compliance controller tracks the treatments provided and adjusts the reminders accordingly. The medical therapy compliance management system tracks certain parameters indicative of clinical or transactional events within the healthcare process. If any one of the measured or calculated parameters is outside a predetermined threshold the system notifies the patient and or caregiver. The system may also utilize interactive voice response technology to gather data from the patient.

  • Patent number: 5438981
Abstract: A self-regulating valve device adapted for use with respiratory equipment of a type which produces a pressurized flow of breathing gas. The valve device affords automatic access to the ambient atmosphere in the event of respiratory equipment malfunction and includes a primary inlet, a secondary inlet and an outlet. The primary inlet is adapted for connection to a ported exhalation valve which, in turn, is connected to one end of an elongated flexible tube, the opposite end of which is connected to a gas flow generator. The outlet, in turn, is connected to the inlet of an oral, nasal or oral/nasal respiratory mask respectively adapted to cover the patient's mouth, nose or mouth and nose. The valve device further comprises a pressure-responsive valve element for regulating gas flow into the inlet of the respiratory mask. In accordance with a further aspect of the invention, there is additionally provided a diffuser element positioned generally at the valve outlet/mask inlet junction.
