  • Patent number: 7091267
Abstract: Disclosed are resinous compositions with excellent balance of impact, heat, flow and environmental stress crack resistance, comprising (i) at least one aromatic polycarbonate, (ii) at least one low molecular weight hydrocarbon resin derived from petroleum C5–C9 feedstock and (iii) optionally a second thermoplastic resin which is not polycarbonate resin, (iv) optionally a rubber modified graft copolymer, and (v) optionally a polymeric or non-polymeric organic phosphorus species. Also disclosed is a method for the manufacture of the compositions and for the manufacture of articles thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 18, 2003
Date of Patent: August 15, 2006
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Robert W. Venderbosch, Sjef G. Berndsen, William A. Kernick, III
  • Publication number: 20060078751
Abstract: A film can comprise greater than or equal to about 95 wt % thermoplastic resin and about 0.001 wt % to about 5.0 wt % sulfonate salt, based on a total weight of the film, and have a UL-94 rating of VTM-0, wherein the thermoplastic resin is selected from the group consisting of polyimide, polysulfone, and copolymers, reaction products, and combinations comprising at least one of the foregoing thermoplastic resins.
    Type: Application
    Filed: June 15, 2004
    Publication date: April 13, 2006
Inventors: Robert Gallucci, William Kernick, Jeroen Vervoort
  • Patent number: 6919422
Abstract: A polyimide composition and a process to prepare polyimide resins with reduced plate out and mold deposits is described. During resin molding operations the low plate out resins show a longer period of operation between cleaning of equipment leading to more efficient operation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 22, 2003
Date of Patent: July 19, 2005
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Robert R Gallucci, Roy Ray Odle, William A. Kernick, III, Mark Alan Sanner
  • Publication number: 20050048299
Abstract: A composition comprising at least one high Tg amorphous resin with a fibrous filler shows improved melt processability. Addition of a sulfonate salt to the compositions gives increased melt flow as well as enhanced flame retardancy in a composition which is substantially free of bromine and chlorine.
    Type: Application
    Filed: June 15, 2004
    Publication date: March 3, 2005
